I admit I have no real idea, just thought I'd get the party started.

do they get it this year, or have I totally missed the concept?

extending heyward and Beachum and perhaps a few w key vet pick ups maybe like DT/DE Red Bryant and RE/LOLB Dwight Freeney.

How much exactly did it free up? Anyone have the current cap dollars for this year?

Troy was never going to play for the 2015 Steelers. So I don't see how his retirement "freed up" any money.

wasn't he scheduled to earn (x) amount?

Yes, but Colbert & company were never taking Troy's salary into account because they knew he wasn't playing for us in 2015. They knew he would retire or they would cut him. So this is not any kind of windfall in terms of salary cap space. They already had enough space to sign a couple impact players but they chose not to do so. They will extend Heyward and Beachum, maybe DeCastro too. Any left over salary cap space will roll into next year.

Let's see if Munchak can get anything out of Adams in his final year, if he shows anything it may be worth to bring him back as a swing back up, next winter. First 2-3 games I wanna see some unbalanced OL sets with hi m at the blocking TE and Miller in the slot.

How about a Troy replacement, in the draft?

The Steelers have a habit of keeping past their prime veterans with high cap numbers too long. T

I think the Money shifts to Beachum, and other players who's contracts are up soon. . In 2016 we will have lots of cap space.

Ok, I figured they would have had to keep him "on the books" in case he wanted to play, and that if he made them cut him, the savings wasn't as big...

capology....meh.

Don't look for any substantial FA signings at this point. Troy's savings will likely roll over towards next year's cap.

saved 3,5 milion on the salary cap . we are at 13 milion under now

Seems like he would help the Jehovah's Witnesses a lot more with multiple millions of dollars to donate to them.

He stole ..err I mean was paid those last year.

They could get everyone memberships to thr Jelly of the Month club

His salary comes off the books for this and next year.

Steelers have to decide whether to take the signing bonus hit this year of 4.5M or spread it out over this and next year at 2.25M each year. (Post june 1 designation)

If we take it all this year we save 3.75M if we spread it out we save 6M this year and have a $2.25M dead money hit next year.

They spend it on a fund to cover all the fines Harrison will get for sacking the **** out of the QBs he faces.
