We're meeting New Orleans at the right time

True on the short week but that's about it. We are playing them on their home field and a fast track.. This is the type of O that can light us up early and often. They have great RB's, good WR's and good TE's to go with possibly the MVP of he league this year in Brees. It is a matchup nightmare for our D. Ben and the O will need to score early and often with no turnovers in this game. Even 1 turnover may doom us. And, assuming Boswell is still on the team, he has to make every kick.

Meh, Eli Apple is going to have to defend Juju or AB - methinks its going to be a BIG DAY for our WR corp...
They should. Solid run D the Saints have Conner's power style probably is more welcome in this game on first and second down. Also I would double Thomas the whole game. They love to run to loosen the pass. Will be important to stop the run. Which means Bostic on 1st down and maybe second depending on yards needed. On d zone and pressure instead of man. I think this somewhat of the formula.

No. **** that. Far more often than not, when a team rests starters in that last game of a season, they look out of sync when the playoffs start. True elite teams can pull it off, SOMETIMES, but thats about it. This is NOT a true elite team, they have no business resting anybody unless they go up by 5-6 touchdowns on the bengals

Maybe if the Steelers are up by 4, Tomlin will put Dobbs in the game. Since he was playing so well in Oakland, and things were flowing.

I think our offense can now utilize BOTH Conner and Samuels on the field at the same time. Just like we could have done w/ Lev Bell - I'm not crowning JaySam as a HOFer yet - but, the kid a a straight up balla and the more weapons on the field the better!!!

Agreed. Double 13 all day and minimize the running game...

Nope, they will never be used properly

Then there's this

Saints were down to last healthy offensive linemen

Via Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, backup left tackle Jermon Bushrod left last night’s game against the Panthers with an undisclosed injury, and center Max Unger didn’t return after being checked for a concussion. They were already without left tackle Terron Amrstead, forcing them to scramble a bit. Unger missed the entire second half, while Bushrod was injured on the failed two-point conversion

Seventh-round rookie Will Clapp came in at left guard while Andrus Peat slid out to tackle, while 2017 undrafted rookie Camerom Tom replaced Unger in the middle

I predict 4 sacks on Brees if those big guys miss the game...

Steelers win!

Chargers actually have a good defense. Baltimore is in trouble, because they haven't seen a D that can stop the run yet. SD can. If they put up 21 points, they win.

Best case scenario. Steelers win, Rats lose, and we're resting starters next week!

We got this

Rapoport: Injured RBs Melvin Gordon, James Conner to Return Week 16

Two running backs out this week — #Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (knee) and #Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) — should be back for Week 16. Some good news, there

https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1074281108915806208

I expect neither of them to play after seeing who is reporting it. I have no idea how Rapoport has a job.

Possible as you can put Jaysam outside. A lot of possibilities.

Good to see Heyward and Tuitt healthy, will need for them to have solid games.

I honestly think it’s one of two things. Repeat of the panthers game last night and a close defensive battle or it’s a shootout and the last one with the ball wins.

If the Bengals game is meaningless, and MT chooses to rest starters, it will be one and done in the playoffs. They need to go into each game as if it is a playoff game from here on out.

Agreed this team always sucks when relaxed off a bye.. keep them in game mode

When your franchise has banged up ribs, and you're facing a team that headhunts, there is no way I put my QB in harms way for a meaningless game. Or AB, or Conner, or JuJu, or Pouncey, or Decastro, or Heyward, or Tuitt, or Haden, or Hilton. Go into the playoffs without any of those players, and you are a different football team.

Vance, you can have the game off too...

If a coach cannot prepare his team to play after a bye week, maybe that is half the problem. Most teams would give their right leg for a bye week before a playoff game, we are the only team that seems to find sorrow in a bye week.

is burfict even playing? I think he's hurt. I think you're making much ado about nothing.

I don’t disagree that we are the odd exception to this, but dems be the facts

100% correct, rest the starters

Ignore our bunch of superstitious old washerwomen

They have a late night game in Carolina, tomorrow is useless as a travel recovery day, and they will be a legit day behind in planning for their matchup.

It's good to match up with them being on a short week.

More important as to playing at right time is the injury to the LT Armstead. Their recent “struggles” (loss to Cowboys, being outplayed by Bucs until blocked punt and the close game vs. Panthers) began with his injury.

He’s dominating- and their center is in the protocol. This team has won all year by effective running the ball - not the normal dominant Brees.

These injuries are bigger than the short week - keep an eye out on them.
