We're at 8 wins. You know what that means????

I accept that it is an accomplishment. I think if Ben never has a losing season it will reflect well on his HOF candidacy. Of him, Manning (who they have to put in because of his name), Rivers he will have the stats, SB's and the non blemished record.
That said. If they make the playoffs I think it would be an accomplishment by Tomlin. I don't think Beliechek having a winning season, but not making the playoffs with this team would be anything he would put on his HOF candidacy (which is obviously sewn up).

Interesting research, in the Superbowl era 2 coaches hit 10 seasons (John Madden and Dennis Green). Shula leads with 13 seasons before a losing season.

Also they said that the Stillers are the first team to have three different coaches with at least 90 wins each. Obviously.

After Ben's skills have eroded, I can imagine Tomlin having a lot more in common with Dennis Green than Madden or Shula. In a few years, we'll see.

His record when Ben is injured / suspended is pretty damn good considering he was going to war with the likes of Charlie Batch, Dennis Dixon, Leftwich, Vick etc.

Great point. Look, some of his clock management and overall in game decision making can be baffling but dude does find a way to motivate the team in crummy situations. 90 wins as a coach in the NFL is more than respectable. If in 2007, you were given a blind look at the coach's record and it was 90-51, no one would be disappointed.

I think a good QB and a good coach go hand and hand.. there aren't many great coaches who didn't also have a good QB.

Do you expect Bellicheck to be great once Brady retires? I sure as hell don't.

Like someone already posted.. Tomlin has done a solid job when Ben has been injured, and we all know that's all too frequently.

Tomlin's record in games not started by Ben is 8-7:

2007: 0-1
2008: 0-0
2009: 0-1
2010: 3-1
2011: 1-0
2012: 1-2
2013: 0-0
2014: 0-0
2015: 3-2

Of course, one of those 2015 wins counted for Landry Jones, even though it was Ben who came in early and won the Cleveland game. So it's more like .500. "Pretty damn good" is a little bit of a stretch.

I think that IS pretty damn good without your starting QB..

I am sure Cowboy fans would agree with that...

Belichick went 11-5 during the one year Brady was injured, including 10-5 with Matt Cassel starting. Cassel is 25-38 as a starter elsewhere.

I expect Belichick to retire when Brady does. Tomlin might want to consider doing the same thing when Ben hangs it up.

Jets and Broncos fans might not.

Joe Flacco (Ravens) 4-9
Andrew Luck (Colts) 6-7
Phillip Rivers (Chargers) 3-10
Sam Bradford (Eagles) 6-7
Eli Manning (Giants) 6-7
Matt Ryan (Falcons) 6-7
Drew Breeze (Saints) 5-8

All these teams with Pro Bowl Quarterbacks and they're not winnning games... I guess it takes more than just one player to win in this league after all.. It takes putting together and keeping a good team all around even after players come and go. Great job Mike Tomlin on never having a losing season.

Ben is the team. With better coaching in the Ravens and Seahawks game, we have 9 or 10 wins right now!

Tomlin has not won a playoff game since January 1 2012. That's way too long

Not sure what games you were watching but Tomlin's not the reason why we lost the Raven or Seahawk game. As far as not winning playoff games, you'd think players control the outcome when they dont perform on the field dont you? Tomlin doesnt throw interceptions, fumble, kick field goals, etc. Then to have injuries to main profile players and expected to win with people just signed off the street. Its rather pointless explaining the same things to people who just already have thier mind set on blaming the coach no matter what.

He also went 5-11 one year with Brady as his QB

The 4th down gambles and leaving the Rats with a timeout and the 2 minute mark is on Tomlin. Ditto for that horrendous fake punt.

Not the reasons why we lost, no. But they were still gaffes. I'm a Tomlin supporter but he's not perfect

bellichick has a good QB and a darn good cheating system installed. Patriots, cheating since... well, ever under Bellicheat

Impressive to have another non-losing season. Now, can we win a playoff game?

No he did not. He went 5-11 with Drew Bledsoe. It was the 2000 season. The worst season he had with Brady was a 9-7 season in 2002.
