The 5-foot-11, 188-pound Sutton was a four-year starter at UT. He finished his career at the program’s all-time leader in passes defended with 37 (30 pass breakups, seven interceptions).

In 45 games, Sutton recorded 127 tackles (111 solo), 13 tackles for loss and seven interceptions. The Georgia native’s 14.6-yard career punt return average is the best in UT history.

During the Senior Bowl and NFL combine, Sutton showcased his versatility with his willingness to play corner, safety and nickel. His special teams abilities made him an even more attractive prospect.

Mayock had Sutton as a Top 5 slot corner - and he's a punt returner!

Take a seat AB, Please!

good enough for me

He has the press ability they are looking for.

And who knows he might play inside early.

That list of the what led to the fall shorts, is 4 for 4.

The last one is the TE position.

Perhaps the 4th round pick.

But this corner looks like he would have went higher if not for the unfortunate injury in his last year.

I think he is a solid pick

He's small, not that fast, gets pushed around by bigger receivers, bad tackler, and not good at run support. Won't be scaring anyone.

He doesn't need to scare anyone he needs to cover..

which he is more than capable at

Why do we always draft short guys to play DB when everyone else's receivers are VERY tall?

Ran basically the same time as Marcus Peters at the combine I'd say he's fast enough.

5 CB's went in the first round. 3 were an inch taller than Sutton one was the same height and one was an inch shorter. I'd say that puts him in good company, He's the average size of NFL cb's.

I hope he works out. I know nothing about him. It just seems we've not drafted a tall DB since Mel Blount.

Tall cbs that are really good are rare, and you certainly won't be finding too many of them in the third round.

I'm not sure that 5'11"-188 pounds is considered small. He did not do too poorly when he faced Bucky Hodges, who is listed as a TE, but is really a big WR. He has faced a lot of big WRs and had his ups and downs. In run support, he throws his body around. He is more than willing, just needs to improve his technique. I'd rather have a guy that tries and has to improve technique than a guy that doesn't want to put his hand in the pile.

I think he had pretty good value in the 3rd. This draft was historic seeing more DBs go in the first two rounds than any in history, Sutton might have been a 2nd rounder in any other draft.

exactly. idiotic to ***** about him this early, some are bitching as if they want manute bol out there playing cornerback, because "tall corners are always better....'n stuff"

Solid pick, but I wish we went corner sooner. He's a little light and not fast, but solid.

Whiny ******* didn't get their Madden dream draft - wah

Short? NO.

Weak? Yes

Fast? NO

Short arms? Yes

Good value in the 3rd round? Yes, but like I said we HAD to go corner sooner picking this late in the rounds. Round two was that round!

He is not weaker than Gareon Conley, Kevin King, or Marlon Humphrey. Two benched 225-11 times and one did it 10. Bigger than Adoree Jackson. Heavier than Sidney Jones. Arms are a half inch shorter than Chidobe Awuzie.

He isn't "fast", but he also isn't slow.

To give you a comparison to a guy close, check Quentin Rollins. Rollins was 5'11"-195 pounds, with 30 1/4" arms. He ran a 4.57 forty, had 14 reps. So, 7 pounds heavier, arms 1/4" longer, ran slower. Where would you have drafted Quentin Rollins?

:jagoff:

What we have to remember here, Coach is always right.

He even has his own thread to prove it

I wanted DB in round two too. But they felt JuJu was too good to pass up. From what I'm hearing he totally rounds out the receiving Corp. You can't fix everything in two picks. They have really taken football guys to my eyes. I'm pleased. You can over dissect things. They drafted 30 in every round and got an A- grade on NFL.com

Carnell Lake On New Steelers CB Cameron Sutton: ‘He Knows How To Cover’

Carnell Lake - “I think versatility in a defensive back is something you always should look for, the ability to be able to call any defense and the defensive back should be able to draw upon his skills to be able to handle that. I think that just comes with drafting the right guys. I think this is a good attempt, especially in the third round, of getting someone who can help us do that”.

“Cameron is a press corner and plays close to the line of scrimmage but can also play off,” Lake said. “He does a good job of mirroring the receiver. He stays close, and that shows in his productivity as a corner for Tennessee over the years in his career. He has led his team and is the all-time leader in passed defensed for Tennessee. He knows how to cover, he stays close, and that is something that we’ve been looking for in the draft. In the third round, he was available and that’s why we took him.”

Lake said Friday night that he’s not ready to say if Sutton will play outside or inside with the Steelers.

“We’ll take a look,” Lake said. “Cameron has probably been someone who has done both. We’re looking to see what he can do when he gets here, to see if he can play inside or help us outside. The more versatile he is, the quicker he can get on the field. We’ll just have to take a look and see where he best fits when he gets here.”

They graded every single team except the Bears with A's and B's. Based on that scale, an A- is average. Not saying I don't like the draft but NFL.com draft grades aren't exactly something to hang your hat on either.
