Week 3 College - Penn State vs Pitt

Pitts defense came to play today and the OL of Penn State is having issues pass protecting. They had better get that sorted out fast. Good game so far.

Penn State's depth at RB is crazy good. All have breakaway speed. Journey Brown is the fastest and got the start. He was only a 2 or 3 star recruit. MOre of a track guy. Ricky Slade, Noah Cain, and Devyn Ford were all 4 stars I believe.

PSU offense will be inconsistent until they get the OL together. Clifford hasn't looked great but he's been under a lot of pressure and they aren't exactly calling high % passes for him to get in rhythm. THat's what happens when you keep getting in 3rd and long due to the OL not establishing a run.

How can Pitt go for the FG there? Insane. A FG does almost nothing. They'd still be down 4 meaning they'd still need a TD unless he's thinking he's going to be able to get 2 more drives resulting in FG under 4 minutes. Wow.

Wow. 1st and goal at the one and not one RB touches the ball in four plays.

It's a Pittsburgh thing. All our teams do it.

Wow! Penn State played horrible but the officials seriously tried to hand that game to Pitt. Not sure what the officials were doing in the 4th quarter and especially on the last few plays.

Can’t come away no points there. Better game than expected and Pickett represented himself pretty well.

Pickett ate PSU’s defense alive. Can’t wait to see what Justin Fields does to it.

Hate to say it but Penn State will be lucky to go .500 in the Big Ten.

How in the heck are they ranked 13th? PSU is over rated, and once they play a top 20 team it will show.

I do like their back, Brown.

PSU is young and inexperienced. They have speed and will get better as the year goes on.

Penn State's defense looked great for most of the game. They gave up a few big plays on screens and a few circus catches. Aside from that, they dominated the line of scrimmage.

Pickett completed a lot of passes but they were mostly safe throws. They only gave up 10 points.

It seems apparent that PSU is treating this year almost like a training year for next year. They are loaded with young talent and they are playing a bunch of guys. That is part of the inconsistency. They are rotating guys at LB and in the secondary. Lots of freshmen getting playing time.

Same on offense. They are rotating 4 RBs and a bunch of WRs. It should pay off down the road but for now there will be ups and downs.

It's hard to judge Clifford at QB. When he's not running from pressure, they have him throwing deep balls. It would be hard to complete a hig % with those play calls. Even on 3rd a a few yards to salt the game away, they had him throw deep.

Everything about the first 3 games seems more like them running practices than actually trying to win the game in front of them. It almost bit them today.

Bye week and then Maryland on a Friday at MD. This is the game of the year for MD. They put everything into beating PSU because they go after the same recruiting territory.

The main issue is that OL. They need to come together. The last few year's it's been weak because the talent has been weak. OL depth was hit hard by sanctions and they had some mediocre talents out there. But this year they have a bunch of 4 star guys out there. They need to start playing to that potantial.

Would have been a little more intriguing if that hadn't lost to Temple today.

The game provided another idiotic Hail Mary defense. Has a team ever gotten pressure rushing three in a Hail Mary situation? The QB always gets the pass off. Why not just drop all eleven?

I can't understand that OL....4 of the 5 are 4 star recruits. They should be much better than what they showed today...especially with Pitt down 2 DL starters. The good news is that 4 of them return next year with 4 stars Caedan Wallace and Whigan and 3 star Miranda fighting to take over for Gonzalez.

They are ruining college football with these targeting calls, a 6-6 receiver runs over a 5-8 db and the db clicks his helmet when he hits him in the chest and he gets ejected, wtf?

That seems to have been the issue for years. Don't know who the OL coach is or if the person in that position has changed since Franklin has been there, but it seems they have problems every year. Hack used to get his brains beat in when he'd go back to pass, so did McSorley and now Clifford.

Refs can totally change the outcome of any game by making it so easy to bench star defenders by claiming targeting, i woner how many are paid off to change outcomes of these tight games?Does Vegas bet on ejections?
