2. San Diego trades safety Eric Weddle to Pittsburgh for a fourth-round pick.

Where else can the Steelers get one of the best safeties in the game -- at a position they could use some help -- for a player Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin greatly admires? Weddle is a free agent after this season and already has sworn off signing with San Diego. Pittsburgh could get another beard to succeed Brett Keisel.

From a post on ESPN.com of suggested trades that they would like to see and "make sense"

Do we really need a safety? Golden/Allen seem to be holding their own and it seems our defense is back to playing with traditional safeties and not with Polamalu types.

No way. We already are lacking in draft picks as it is. We can't afford to give up 4th for a player that is going to be a FA.
 
The only way I would do that is if you agreed to a reasonable extension as part of the trade. I do like Weddle as a player. With that said, I still think Blake would make a great safety.
 
No way! We have no 5'th or 6'th pick and now to suggest losing the 4'th to a guy who becomes a F/A like Boykin who never plays. I guess Cool Shades wants to play golf on draft day.

Weddle is a pro bowl level player ( age 30 ), and would be our best DB. I'd take this deal ASAP for a 4th round pick.
 
Not me. 30 years old means he only has 3-4 years left and those won't be on the same level as his previous years...

Say what you want, but, Golden is balling out back there and you can write this down - "had Mitchell been on the field when the Bengals drove down and scored---the outcome would have been much different". For those that noticed, Gay played safety in his absence...
 
We could use another guy to sit on the bench...

Seriously, if we didn't trade a bunch of picks for guys that don't play already and didn't have so many injuries on offense, I'd make this deal in a heartbeat.
 
Our draft picks don't get on the field that fast. Weddle is proven.

My guess is Ben doesn't play to the age Manning or Brady will. Brady should play into his 40's based on how he is playing unless karma bites his ***. Ben has 3-4 years left is my guess. No way he plays until he is 40 and I doubt he makes it to 38.

Yeh, no way can we afford to lose a 4th round pick. That would be like puttin a good pick like that on the practice squad or just sitting him on the bench while we play ah....no..wait
