We NEED to draft or sign a QB... Convince me that I'm wrong.

1.) Although we may have a top QB, he is coming off of major surgery on his THROWING ARM. Let also not forget that he probably weighs more than DeCastro at this point.

2.) Our backup QB had the 4th worst QB rating last year. He was SO bad that he was benched for an undrafted rookie. I get it- he looked average his first 1.5 games. But that went downhill very quickly once teams figured out that he has a weak arm, and also that he is an absolute statue in the pocket.

So, feel free to...

there's no money

There is little to no interest in Cam Newton or Jameis Winston. Either of them are an upgrade to Rudolph/Duck. Perhaps as this drags out after the draft, you could sign them to a 3-4Million contract? We DO need depth at QB.

1- No money and the only two decent QBs left in Newton and Winston want to start not be backups.

2- Jury still out on Rudolph. IMO though his late throws from bad anticipation was the reason he failed.

3- We will give Ben the opportunity to comeback this year and if he physically cannot we ride it out with Rudolph/Lynch/Duck and if none show us they are the man, then we draft a QB and likely top 10.

Rudolph kind of had his eggs scrambled tool Lets let his brain get sorted and see how he develops.

How about that he isn't fat.

The front office is likely to move forward with who we have. They must think Rudolph is better than what we've seen. I doubt Rudolph will look any better this year.

We'll probably draft a QB, in the 6th or 7th round. Not to worry though I think you can probably still get Landry cheap.

Team is happy with what they have. No qb move plus the restructure of Ben says they think he is fine... Arm and conditioning.

Rudolph is going to get a chance to see if he can get past the assault and battery and see if he is on a growth curve.

No fa qb out there is affordable.

No drafted qb is going to be ready to start if Ben goes down

Well why not draft someone. Grab Hurts or Fromm in third and have Rudolph prove that he belongs.

"If Ben goes down we'll probably be picking in the top 10, so lets wait"

Our defense, and honestly, our coaching staff, is not bad enough to land into the top 10. I mean, did anyone imagine we would go 8-8 last year? Why would we somehow tank next year?

"Ben is not fat"

Well he aint exactly 'fit'

Tall, lot of layers, round face. All can an appearance of more weight.

Last close up pics of him standing he looked pretty trim, let us not look at one picture and start assuming he is anything but fit.

Landry Jone's says hello.............. Last year (BEN went down) they tried to get him back from the XFLm but he couldn't get out of his contract. I'm not saying get him but in a pinch he would have been as if not better than the two lame ducks we had last year. He does know our system.

OK, punch the **** out me............. I don't want Landry Jone's, just stating a fact.

I highly doubt Winston or Newton will work for what we can afford and at the capacity we'd need them but stranger things have happened......

Salute the nation

There is one reason this team ABSOLUTELY SHOULDN'T get a QB. If Ben is done and what they have isn't good enough it's time to burn it down, dump Tomlin's *** to the curb and draft a QB with a high pick. None of this patch it for 8 wins bullshit. If you pick up say Winston. Ben gets hurt and he plays well. Maybe he even wins enough to make playoffs. Now what. He is on a one year deal and he is gonna **** off anyhow. Rudolph can hold the fort for 4 weeks if need be. More than that they are done anyhow.

I think steeler fans still have the bad memory of Dan Marino haunting them. They thought Bradshaw still had a few years left so they passed on him. Then Bradshaw's elbow went and the steelers were without a QB.

I could see taking a QB if the steelers had a 1st rounder and there was a great prospect available, but they don't have a 1st, and i don't like very many of these QBs. Mason Rudolph is still as good or better prospect than any QB that can be had in Round 2.

he's "fit" enough to be doing what he's paid to do, which is play QB for the Steelers. Last time I checked, Ben Roethlisberger isn't training for the 100 meter sprint at the Olympics

"errrr mah gerrrrd, Big Ben has a big beard, he must be faaayuuut!!"

LOL.....Do you actually think they would sign for that low of a salary? Really?

Wow. That doesn't say much for this draft class.

If you're one of these two guys and your agent is telling you that you're not getting any offers, or low ball offers like 3-4 million, you would scoff at it. But after the draft, weeks go by, nothing. Then the Pittsburgh Steelers calls your agent and offers you 3 -4 million to be a backup to an aging QB who have gone all in to win a Super Bowl. You wouldn't sign that contract?

Good point 3 -4 mil looks mighty attractive if you are sitting at home playing pound the pud and the season is inching ever so close.

A.J. McCarron will be making $4M as a backup for the Texans. I think it's unlikely either guy is signing anywhere for less than $7M and likely $10M.

as we pass the draft and if cam is still available sign him to vet min because he has no leverage esp if chargers draft Herbert. or sign winsdton who has 0 leverage to min deal.
any 6th or 7th rnd qb will not be better than Hodges or QB with high ceiling guys like Patterson Nate Stanley are the below Average qb and mason has more up side than both he just needs a lot of of work in the film room with a qb coach which we have now he needs to learn to read overages
