"...Vaughan "displays the pocket presence, poise, and aggressiveness that many of his more-heralded classmates lack." He's also 6-feet-4-inches tall, 220 pounds and has a strong enough arm to make every throw. In other words, he is an ideal developmental quarterback."

"For 6-5, I’m particularly impressed with his feet. His feet are quicker than they ought to be for 6-5. I liked what I saw out there. We know he’s got that arm. We’re going to see a lot of him these next two [preseason] games, I’m sure, and we’ll see how that plays out."

Pittsburgh Steelers sign QB, WR to futures contracts

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers signed quarterback Dustin Vaughan and wide receiver Levi Norwood to futures contracts on Friday, their agent said.

Both had workouts with the Steelers in early January with Vaughan's coming about a week after Norwood's.

Vaughan, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound signal caller entering his third season out of Division-II West Texas A&M, spent his rookie season as a backup with the Dallas Cowboys before spending part of last season on the Buffalo Bills' practice squad.

He was 35 of 67 for 343 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in four preseason games with the Bills last year.

Ben Roethlisberger and Landry Jones are the only other Steelers quarterbacks under contract for next season.

Norwood was a rookie last season, playing in three preseason games with the Chicago Bears and catching one pass for five yards. In four seasons at Baylor, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Norwood caught 128 passes for 1,626 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He was also a punt and kick returner, both of which are unsettled positions for the Steelers. Norwood averaged 8.7 yards per punt return with no touchdowns while averaging 20.2 yards per kick return with a pair of scores.

He didn't stick with the Bills either. I wonder what's the matter with him, he looks like he can play.

Not sure if this is the end of Laundry or not. I hope we bring another QB in for sure. One thing for sure, our red ryder BB gun is newer than cincinati's ginger boy.

Salute the nation

Dallas is so stacked with talent at the QB position...it's no wonder he didn't stick.

Always thought Fitzgerald could play better than the typical Journeyman, yet he has bounced everywhere... non franchise QBs, even good ones, aren't as stable in their roster spot because teams are always looking for the next great one. Think about it... franchise QBs typically are on one or two teams tops, but even most of the above average really good ones will be on four or five

goodbye Landry
maybe
A little QB competition in camp? I hope so.
What's up with Mike Vick? Or will Vick be modeling the latest Duce Staley line of sideline casual wear?
So will Vaughan's nickname be "Dusty"?
If he gets some preseason snaps at Heinz Field and they blast "Wild Thing" over the Sound System I'll pee myself !

Vick signed for the year and is not under contract next season. Thank god.

Well, maybe if Landry or Gradkowski get hurt in training activities or camp this kid might get a spot.

If you be in the black & gold(except Vick)

I'm rooting for you. He's a camp arm though
