We hired Teryl Austin to help Butler and Bradley..

Someone (I forget who) speculated that Butler could be DC and work with the OLBs as well. It was nothing official. Depot also has zero inside sources, they basically aggregate their news like most outlets.

Dulac

With Bradley taking the either the S or CBs and the new coach vice vera.

More wore out cover 2 horsehit... watch the Chiefs destoried the Indy zone defense in playoffs today... didn’t help safeties were hurt but doubt it would have mattered the young qbs of today eat zone for break fest and **** the crappy hybrid two down defensive line schemes of teams like the Steelers. We suked on defense all last season this and guess what??? We will suk next season!!!

Our defense had some good moments. Needed turnovers. Looked good against the Pa***ts.

Guy I met today said Butler will take on olb coach duties as well as d coordinator. New guy will work with d backs. He also said Tomlin to take on larger role in the defense. He said he gets his news from Steeler depot. Idk if this is all true. All hearsay right now. I'm working so haven't verified anything.

So I guess our entire defensive coaching staff is taking demotions. Tomlin will be DC. Butler will be LB coach. Austin and Bradley co-DB coaches.

So who will be HC? For as much as people whine about Ben’s leadership, I guess they’ll make him player/HC.

I’m tired of this ****. If every coach who touches the defense has to take over the duties of the person below them, starting with the “head coach”, then why don’t we just clean house and get new people in who can do the jobs they’re being paid to do?

Tomlin runs the D now. How can he take a larger role? Good lord, Rooney needs to step in and do something here.

Well you know the old saying "Not enough cooks in the kitchen"... that is the saying right?

bitler did a great job as LB coach we was very respected there as DC to try to minimize the fronts teams in the sec or small schools that are just pass pass texas tech Iowa ST APP ST Clemson he adapted lebeau's 2-4-5 as the base to use as many hybride players. the problem lebeau disguised blitzes beter we hardly see the cross blitz anymore or 2 LB from the same side coming like when we used to see Woodley and Timmons coming from the back side Lebeau 3-3-5 was better.
Teams get about 5-6 per carry vs the 2-4-5 because once you double cam Davis or Edmunds overpursue or whiff the RB just surge until 4 guys get there.
with 3 DL it would be harder to run. and you can disguise better by playing Burnett or Edmunds as MLB's

They did have some good moments. As bad as some of the games seemed to be, they were middle of the pack in RZ% D and Scoring D. We were top 10 in passing yards per play, rushing yards per play, which seems odd. Bottom 3rd in G2G.

The Rams D averaged 1.5 more points allowed per game, were about 1.5% better in RZ D and about .5% worse on 3rd down.

The inability to get turnovers (we were 28th in interception rate) killed us. We discussed in another thread that, with the number of sacks we were getting, you'd expect that to lead to more fumbles or bad pass attempts that would lead to some ints. Yet, neither happened.an extra int here or there could have dramatically changed our results. Our leader in interceptions was Haden with TWO.

They also did not deal with adversity well. When they'd get ****** on a play call it seemed to get in their heads and not recover the rest of the series, if that early. That may just be my perception, though.

I'll say this, having your best pass rusher(Watt) not rushing the blind side of the QB doesn't help in the forced fumble department. I think if he'd come from where the QB doesn't see him as well, he'd create more fumbles.

The D wasn't putrid, but there's some tweaking that needs done to improve.
-i don't care how we need better at ILB than Williams and Bostic.
-the 2 Dlinemen front has to go away, there's too much talent in Cam, Tuitt, and Hargrave to not have them playing together as much as possible.
-stop with the cover 3 and 4 on long downs, the QB has all day because we rush 3 and in turn the wr has all day to find the holes in the zone.

Are any of these "coaches" teachers? Do they grasp the meaning of the terms "talent assessment" or "player development"?
Yoi! Never mind, Double Yoi!!
