Watched the Jags playoff game

Even more of a reason to commit the 8th man in the box. Take away their running game, and they are NOT outscoring us. The strategy and game time adjustments here were lacking, Antdrewjosh.

They didnt have eight in the box?

Props to you guys who can re-watch.. I can't do it. Too painful

It sucked just as much..but it does lend some perspective. For instance everybody hated the toss call. Myself included but if McDonald gets the block on Ramsey that play is drastically different. **** it

Huh.......what? Thats exactly what they did? Up until midway through the third quarter he was under a hundred yards passing. The Steelers just couldnt force the Jags to make Bortles win the game. They took shots when they got turn overs and hit them. They had a careful game plan with their QB play. For sure.

The "Huh" was with regards to the quarterback not making mistakes. Even with the questionable coaching decisions, if we don't spot them 10-14 points, we win the game too. Without the questionable coaching decisions, we could have won the game even with the turnovers.

As BigApple says, this was very much a Team loss. Removing any one of the mistakes could have changed the outcome of the game.

I'm not sure we are on the same page. Im saying the Jags strategy was to not expose their QB Bortles. He played a pretty clean game. No big mistakes but pretty safe short throws and bombs that if they get picked no big deal. Ben made mistakes clearly. He also made enough plays to make up for them. If not for the defense and the coaching gaffes. Ben owns his part for sure.

Score 42 points and you should win every game. Period. Blake ******* Bortles beat this defense. It's not hard to do. A lot of scrubs have career days on them. They've been soft since Tim Tebow beat them in the playoffs. The Steelers D needs it's mojo back.

Their RB outperformed our RB. He did so in the first matchup as well.

But our RB WANTS A HELL OF A LOT MORE $$$$$BLING$$$$$$$ THAN THEIR RB................................

Salute the nation

IMO McDonald didnt have a chance on that play. Ramsey made an outstandingly quick read. And if he didnt get him, Myles Jack would have. Doesnt matter now. **** it

Agree to disagree cause all McDonald had to do was not get blown up. His assignment was to kick out. So if he stay in front of Ramsey and pushes him toward the sideline bell can cut inside of him. Decastro has a chance to get his man.

And for the record i hated the call inside the tackle behind decastro and pouncey or sneak it. But it had a chance if McDonald gets his block

I think the basic idea is that while it *might* have worked, it seemed, to me, to be a poor call because it seemed like a low probability of success when other options were better.

That second missed 4th with JuJu, seemed a reasonable chance of success, so that one didnt bother me.

No one talks about the 4th downs where a long pass led to a TD. Those, while successful, could have been just as disastrous.

Yes this is definitely in hind sight cause as soon as they tossed it i started cursing. Hated it. But im just looking at the execution of it.

He didnt get "blown up" . He didnt get there because ramsey was accross the LOS so fast. And decastro was was tied up with 53.

I can't rewatch that game.

Holy ****, only Villa won his block on that play, each and every player got blown up behind the LOS.

That's what makes that play even the more idiotic. 1. You're running to the short side of the field. 2. You're making all your linemen run horizontal on a goal line situation so they can't get any push and with the jags in a goal line type D they had alot of bodies at the LOSS of course there would be some penetration. 3. Even if your linemen blocked their guys to a stale mate, the linemen are already 2 yards behind the LOS pulling.

blown up meaning they got beat on a 1 v 1 block. ran over.

Mcdonald didnt make his block, BECAUSE ramsey was so quick accross the LOS. He had no real chance to make that block.

And thus RAMSEY blew up the play. Not McDonald.

I see short side runs in college quite a bit. Drives me crazy. I'm astonished when it works.
I think it can work on earlier downs, but 4th and 1 and you're in a running formation and the defense has pretty much all 11 guys at the LOS, there is going to be no room.

had the best rapping RB in the league reversed, as we've seen some of the greats like Payton, Sanders, etc do, he'd have likely scored. Almost their entire team was on that side of the field.

So....was it the players fault or Haley's fault that the play didn't work?

Cue....3....2......1.......
