Would have been nice to have an extra time out or 2 late in the game. I really don't understand the theory of always taking a time out when the play clock is about to run out...and hearing announcers say they were "forced" to take a time out.I would rather take the 5 yard penalty for the delay and keep the time out. Not saying it cost the Steelers the game, but an additional time out may have helped.

Well it certainly didn't help. They also needed to stay ahead of the chains. When Ben got sacked it really put them in a bind. Then they run screen which is the worst play in their playbook.Going deep to Bryant was unbelievable. Just get 8 and give yourself a chance.

It's one thing if they convert after the time outs (as bad as they were), but they didn't even make the most of them.

Ben was miffed at what Hairball was throwing at him, look how many times play clock was below 5 seconds.

Missed today's game, first in over a decade...had a bad feeling about this one. Then I saw this thread and thought surely not us wasting timeouts, but of course it was

This is no different than any other game.

I agree snapping the ball with 1 to 2 seconds every play has to give the d line an advantage. But when your d plays with 10 yard cushions and other teams can routinely have 13 play drives that last 7 - 8 minutes we have to try to even out time of possession. I lose my mind yelling to snap the ball.

I seen a substantial amount of plays were the ball was snapped in the 12 second area. During the bruce era, it held true of the 1-3 seconds. currently not as much. ALSO, what in the hell is up as to costing us TWO time outs due to low play clock??? This is worse than a rookie, reminded me of Kordell stewart early in his career. Spank the coaches as this should never be an issue at this stage of the season, yet alone twice..........

It didn't help not having them but what really hurt us was our WR's having the dropsy's today. If AB doesn't bobble the ball in the EZ. Another he didn't slide/tap his other foot/toe which would of been a big third down conversion. Ben missed open guys while forcing a few throws. Bryant and Wheaton both had big drops on our last real drive. If we had our TO's Ravens would of surely ran their last series a little different than the way it played out.

Still trying to figure out what was so confusing

They were taking the deep portions of the field away and basically giving the short middle and flats on every play. And being our division rival, they know better than anyone that Ben doesn't take what the defense gives him. He's gonna shoot his shot regardless of what the defense gives him. And it took our guys well in to the 4th quarter to start taking advantage of this. I'll let you decide whether you think that is Ben's fault, the coaches' faults, or some combination or whatever. But what I do know is that when Ben starts to get flustered, we might as well just give up because he WILL piss the game away trying to do too much. How no one on that staff who has been with him for years has figured out how to get him to adjust earlier in the game, I have no idea. But like I said in the other thread, I'm done getting my hopes up

I went back and watched that play. I suggest everyone do it.

The play should NOT HAVE been overturned--AB removes one hand from the ball as he is going OB. Both feet land inside the OB line. He controlled the ball all the way through the catch...

Oh well. No need to cry over spilt milk...we lost.

Oh, and BTW, Ben called both of the TO's - the reason we didn't have any later in the 4th was on him...

They were confused by the Ravens' personnel grouping, the Ravens brought in their 5th string cornerback and safety; the Steelers were dumbfounded by this and had to use a TO.

Very true, however the one he took on 3rd and long after the sack should have been taken on second down with 1 min plus in the clock as it rolled. Take it there, get your play and move the chains. Maybe get three before he half instead give Bal the ball back. The timeout after the sack was plain retarded it ensured Bal the ball unless we pick up 3rd and long.
