By: CJ Lester, @CJLester58 SteelerNation.com   It’s no secret now who will be starting at inside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. According to Steelers.com, Keith Butler stated earlier yesterday afternoon in a Zoom call “(Devin Bush) and Vince (Williams) will be playing inside linebacker for us this year.” I mean we all assumed […]

They need To maximize the abilities of both players while not tipping the defense. Vince is a tremendous run stuffer and blitzer. Although Bush had some coverage growing pains he is a tremendous athlete and play maker. Vince will get schemed off of the field a lot. Gilbert needs to step forward as a viable backup.

Thank God. Barron killed them last year. IMO all they have to do is replace Edmonds with someone that shows something in camp and that D will be rolling this season. They have a star at every level of that D.

I wonder if a backup will play good enough to get our nod of approval.

Barron was better by the end of the season, but he dogged it so many times early that I couldn't believe what I was watching (newly signed player loafing?), and Edmunds has shown flashes but can't seem to put it all together (yet). Seems above the neck, if you will.

I thought that with Fitzpatrick back there, Edmunds would show some significant improvements. Maybe this will be the year, if there is one.

I could be wrong but I thought it was just him being unsure learning on the fly. That can cause hesitancy and come across like you are cleveland browning it. Which would explain improvement as the season went on. On the flip side he could still have been dogging it which is why he was cut instead of contract tweaked.
