I think with the decent season he had he no longer is the bargain he was last season when we nabbed him coming off a terrible season in Houston. He is most likely over pricing himself out of what the Steelers want to pay him.

He performed better than my expectations, but my expectations were extremely low for that signing. He, definitely, wouldn't be worth overpaying.
 
EDIT: if he we have to outbid anyone I rather the team invest more on a better CB

If the Steelers don't want to match or sign him then they'd better have a good backup plan.

aniverrated? Speak english already! Spaeth is a good blocker and does have good hands, he just isnt able to get open. For what we paid, hes a good blocking TE and hopefully we draft someone who can catch/block and be groomed as Heath's eventual replacement.

McCain was solid last year, and i'd love to have him back, but there is no way we get into a bidding war over him. His worth is probably something like what we paid Moats, so Spaeth's contract really has nothing to do with McCain signing or not signing.
 
i just saw we gave spaeth 1 milion a year .. basically a vet min .. good sign

as far as mcain , i would have cut allen and sign him , but since they don't want to admit the failure they will start allen and by the the 3rd game of the season they will try find a replacement around or hope the draft pick can play immediately .. all points that are number one target is kevin johnson so they have gay allen blacke and possible johnson and maybe another fa

A poor TE that can block and heaven knows we can use that when Spaeth is in as an extra blocker. Its also not exactly like he broke the bank. It was a good and necessary signing.

You sound like another incredibly negative guy who periodically disappears from the site for awhile . Usually right around the time a new person shows up who ******* and complains even more than he did. Ironically the complaints are always strikingly similar.

Spaeth is a JAG who was signed for JAG money. I'm okay with it.
 
The Vikes have shown interest in Chris Culliver too, a name I would like to see the Steelers interested in. Especially if McCain doesn't come back.

Tough to win playoff games when you aren't in the playoffs. Want to know who counts 'no playoff wins'? The Bengals and Browns do. Stop sounding like a pathetic orange fan.
 
Be interesting to see if we reach to keep this guy or if we let him go to Miami or wherever he would end up
 
My guess is McCain will give Steelers a chance to match his best offer.

I'm firmly onboard the Chris Culliver wagon, was hoping things stay quiet with him and then the Steelers can nab him at the right price. Still hoping...
