Unique Spot, don't blow it!

A W damn near wraps up the division barring something catastrophic. The rest will play out however it plays out, the Patsies will do what they do and win some games with some help. One game at a time with this group.

here's one. I don't know what this one can do to help us, though.

but there's also a club...

The Steelers are in a unique position. With a win this week, we won't be looking up at anyone for the #1 seed. That is unusual. We typically dig s hole for ourselves (like we did with a Chicago and a Jacksonville), then spend the last half of the season digging our way out. With a win, we control our own destiny. go Steelers!!

ANyone have an explanation why we don't control our own destiny for the #1 seed after today's results.. in fact no team does??
I don't get it.

If we were to win out we'd have home field, I didn't go to the link, but that would mean we beat KC and NE.

That's my logictoo...but maybe mathematically the Bills or the Dolphins could still have a shot and some strength of schedule thing kicks in. No big deal, just found it surprising.

You can't control destiny. By definition, destiny is something that happens without your control.

Steelers are in control of their playoff seeding.

3 teams in the AFC sit at 5-2. NE, PIT, KC

KC beat NE
PIT beat KC
PIT has yet to play NE

The reason why the Steelers control the path to the #1 seed is by winning out (and more importantly, winning the NE game).
KC needs a Steeler loss to NE to control the path to their #1 seed
NE needs to beat PIT and have another KC loss to control their path to the #1 seed.

JAX is a game behind, so their tiebreak doesn't come into play yet.

Yep pretty much is you have to tie New Englands win loss (how it is shaking out) and beat the cheats when you play them.

Still way to early obviously to know for sure. But the cheats managed to still beat that Atlanta team, and their D is miraculously getting better.

But if any year they are ripe for the picking it is this year.

We'll see.

It sucks NE didn't lose another of those early games where they were down. Their D seemed to right itself last night in shutting down the best O they have faced. That's not a good sign. We absolutely MUST beat them to have any chance at home field in the playoffs. But, I'll take one game at a time with this team. A decent Lions team is up next before the bye.
