Unfazed, unbroken Rudolph bounces back in win

Rudolph has been decent so far. Right now, he looks like an Andy Dalton type QB. He can win you a bunch of games when surrounded by talent, but will go 7-9 during down years. The reason I'm a little down on him so far is he hasn't wowed me with any of his passes. I haven't seen that "franchise QB" moment where he's made a play that few in the league can make. As Coryea pointed out, he hasn't even taken a chance to put the ball in a tight window. This is one of the reasons people think receivers aren't getting open. Remember, Ben makes those types of plays all of the time.

Yesterday he made a laser pass to Washington with triple coverage. Few can put them there ( yeah, that's what she said), what he is lacking is touch in his passes but he throws very nice spirals

Eh, just not enough. JuJu is out there open and Rudolph just doesn't throw him the ball. Guys have a step on defenders and he throws it behind them. Simply not enough right now for the Steelers to be taken seriously.

As time / games / experience progress he will start throwing harder to complete passes. I hope some here realize he is coming of a concussion and two + week off the field. That takes a little to get the rust off. I think these next couple games will tell us a lot more about his play but will also have those madden QBs wanting to trade him off after the trade deadline........ Or bench him after two throws..........

Salute the natio

The main thing i see with Rudolph is improvement. He's still a bit hesitant, but he's also fearless in the pocket. He's looking downfield to make plays. In this game, he threw into some tight windows and that is really the toughest thing for young QBs to learn. It's what I liked about his OK St film. So many of the college QBs throw to wide open guys all game. Rudolph had a lot of anticipatory throws and plays where he put a ball in a spot for his WR, usually Washington, to make a play.

The guy was getting Boo'd by his own fans on Monday Night Football. He was losing, under heavy pressure, and his WRs weren't really getting open. Lots of QBs cave in that situation, like Darnold did. Or they just start chucking it downfield like Mayfield does. Rudolph stayed poised. This kid is tough.

He missed some throws but he also made some incredible throws into tight coverage and put it in the right spot for his guy to make a play. As his confidence grew, his mechanics got better and he made better throws.

So far, i see him missing on the things that are fixable and he's doing well with that parts that are toughest to learn.

Does he have a cannon? No, but neither did Manning or Brady. And in today's game I think arm strength is even less important. Sure, you can't have a weak arm, but you don't need that cannon like in years past when there were 7 step drops. He does have more than adequate arm strength.

I don't think Fichtner is doing him any favors either. Hard to see on the TV broadcast but it seemed like most of the routes were downfield and slow developing.

I don't think you can write his performance off as only being against Miami so it's no big deal. I don't care what their defense is ranked, on that night, that Miami defense brought pressure, and had tight coverage all night. That night, it was a tough defense.

The TD to Johnson looked easy but Rudolph audibled to that play. He recognized it and made the right decision. I don't care if the throw was easy. He won before the snap.

What was with the plays coming in late? So many times the steelers barely beat the play clock. How about getting the plays in so Rudolph has time to look over the defense.

Even with Ben in there our offense always seems to snap from 5-2 sec left on the clock
