I think yinzers are woefully underselling what Rudolph is doing so far... he leads the league in touchdown percentage and is one of the best second half and fourth quarter passers in the league thus far... yes he looks tentative and yes his passes are inconsistent... because he is a ******* first year starter and 99% of first year qbs look like that... go rewatch Peyton manning or Brees first years... hell watch golden boy brady’s... Rudolph is outperforming all of them thus far...

I don’t think anything can really be determined in a players first year starting, but for the knuckleheads trying to already sink the idea he can be the future here I think at this point they are far closer to looking like jackasses long term than they realize

Again first year starting qbs always look miserable until they adjust to nfl concepts and game speed... that takes YEARS... not a few games in...

Not really fair because Manning was a rookie not a 2nd year player. He was also 2 years younger than Rudolph. Also he didn't have the luxury of being on a team with a lot of talent. He couldn't dink and dunk his way to wins. The NFL was different back then as well. No spread offenses, no protecting the QB ETC..

Rudolph looks ok. He isn't Ben and doesn't look like Ben did even in his first season. They played Miami not NE. So I would take what Rudolph is doing with a bit of context.

WAY to early to give up on him. This season is a lot about determining Rudolf's future value to this team.

Salute the nation

I think it was simply a case of him finally throwing more to guys who were actually covered, instead of just check downs or guys who were wide open. He's learning that in this league if the pass isn't more accurate, its usually a bad result. And from time to time he needs a play like Ju Ju made, where they have to take that ball away. I think he handled himself well. But dammit, these bad starts and miscues have got to be eliminated. Just about every game has started with some kind of fuckup.

Cool, then compare Manning's play at 24 as a three year starter to what Rudolph has done thus far... bear in mind we really should have won the Seattle and 49r game with him..

Again he is making far fewer mistakes than a lot of young Qbs and having better actual results... most have ypas in the 6 or 7 range... he has a pretty good completion percentage... he has an absurdly high td percentage... if that keeps up, and again those stats were compiled against Seattle and the 49rs as well as the winless teams too... it would be higher than most qbs ever have for a season...
just look at the stats for everyone else in his very highly touted draft class thus far...

Im just saying this kid might be a lot better in the long run than the guys looking to judge him after 4 starts are giving him a chance to be...

As was talked about on the radio this morning... left to steeler fans, they would have cut Bradshaw before he started winning superbowls...

Not that Rudolph is in that category, but you don’t want to be the Chargers, who more or less bailed on Brees when he didn’t click for his first three years...

Some of you guys are really rough on Rudolph. Geez, he's started now 4 games and is 2-2 and could damn well be 4-0 if JUJU protects the ball against the Ravens and James doesn't fumble late in the 49'er game, and could have won the Seattle game but Moncrief deflects a perfectly thrown ball into a defender's hands.

Its essentially his first year since he never even dressed last season and he's done well. 9-TD's, 3-int's isn't too damn bad and he will continue to improve. Mason was shaky last night I think in part to being rusty after three weeks off and a bit tentative coming off the concussion. He needed to gain his confidence back, settle down and get into a rythem which he did.

I see a lot of "IFS". Fact is things are different now. Half the league has nobody QBs that are doing well. Menchew in Jax, Carolina ETC... I'm not saying Rudolph won't be a good QB but breaking records... like Jackson is doing in Balt. has to be seen in a different light than QBs years ago.

One thing is for sure, he needs to be much more accurate. I saw a LOT of badly thrown balls last night. Behind the receiver, too high, couldn't hit them in stride. At their feet.

Clean that **** up!

We lost the 49er game because the offense turned 5 49er turnovers into 6 damn points, and then the defense got gouged. I don't hear anyone saying the Bengals could easily be tied with us, because they could be if we're playing the should've game. No one is saying Rudolph is done or great yet, but just look at the eye test, has anyone seen him throw ball into a tight window more than 5 yards downfield? A 10-15 yard out? How many of his TD throws are to guys wide open? He has an average, at best, arm, and that makes it very hard to complete passes to guys that are "NFL" open, and not "college" open.
Comparing him to anyone pre-2010 is pointless, the pass game and rules to help it have evolved so much compared to when Manning/Brees, even when Ben was a rookie.

No one should be comparing him to Manning/Brees/Ben. I’m simply pointing out that the kid has not been bad just stepping in from the Seattle game. He will improve as the season goes on but everyone knows when Ben comes back that he’s the starter. Let’s all wait and see how the season progresses and look at his body of work at seasons end. Then we will know if he’s the heir apparent to Ben.

I'm by no means saying bench him at all, just stating what I see.

There are ranges of QB's
Bum- Journeyman
Good Game manager - a guy who can win you a game
Franchise

Very small sample on Rudolph, but I see guy who can win you a game more likely than a bum. To me you need more than a game manager, but you also do not need a franchise QB either. Football is one by teams not QBs but you need a guy who can really get it done. Good in the clinch. Leader, Correct amount of swagger. I feel like Rudolph looks like he might tick some important boxes of intangibles. He has to work on some mechanics to get full consistency.

There isn't any real option but to give Rudolph time to see how much he can develop. As mentioned in this thread and others, despite the fact that he's not playing very well, and despite the fact that the receiving corps is essentially a shell of its former self - he's averaging two TDs a game. That aint bad when you've basically got JuJu and a rookie as your entire receiving threat right now.

Washington has either been hurt or painfully inconsistent. McDonald was hurt, Mongrief... I don't even want to talk about that ************. Switzer who was basically a 6 to 9 yard catch guy in the first place has managed to regress. Johnny Horton runs really fast in one direction. That's pretty much his entire skill set.

Rudolph has been short, high, low, wide and once in a blue moon - long. It's only recently he even began throwing the ball PAST the line of scrimmage. He's been ridiculously accurate this season mostly because he has excelled at the long hand off. Yet, despite ALL that, he averages 2 TDs a game. Somehow the kids a gamer. He aint pretty. He aint going to keep any D-Coords up at night. But he continues to plug away and I'm willing to see what develops over the year.

I am just not sure which way the pendulum will swing.I see good TD percentage. I see bad mechanics. I think he has enough pros and cons to be a mystery............until he isn't.

Just seemed in the first quarter to many plays calling for throwing long, Both sides of the ball wakened up after the TD. I like the poise of mason and his post interview was about us not me

We'll have a better idea after the next two weeks, Colts and Rams have defenses that are ranked right there with our in terms of yards per game, passing yards per game, and points allowed.

Let's be honest. He looked terrible to start the game and needs to loosen up & ******* relax...If he does, he'll be okay. If he's stiff as a statue as he is prone to be at times, we will all call for his head again...

Let's also remember -- the last time he was on a football field he got knocked out cold for like 5 minutes. He may have started out terrible, but he finished really well. Let's give the kid some credit. Above the neck, he's damn good. Needs to work on his mechanics obviously (which I'm sure they're working on day-in day-out).

Yeah his footwork definitely needs work. His arm isn’t bad but he has the frame to bulk it up too... he definitely should since he tries to arm toss so many passes... i think none of his issues are not things that cannot be fixed...
