Tyson Alualu set to visit Steelers

He's a rotation guy, just what we need to give our china dolls some rest

Alualu would be more than depth. He's good enough to play in rotation an we know the steelers want to lower the snaps that Tuitt and Heyward are playing so they can stay fresh longer.

stop stealing my stuff, Coach

If we can get Tuitt, Villanueva, and Bell locked up now I would call this a successful offseason heading into the draft.

Will take him. Its not flashy like the first week of UFA signings but we are shoring up some areas of need leading into the draft

Oh no! We just added the DL depth we needed by upgrading from Ricardo Matthews to solidify the DL and not be forced to used an earlier draft pick there. Instead, they can focus on CB and edge guys. What a free agency disaster!

If we had to live without Tuitt or Heyward for a couple games, a combination of LT Walton (in base defense) and Alualu (in nickel) would certainly be better than we've had in awhile.

justin gilbert says sup?

Talk about bust. He has drawn 0 interest in free agency. I guess if you can't get snaps for a poor pass defense like the Steelers that features Will Gay you pretty much have proven you don't belong in the NFL. lol

Yay!

Free-agent Jaguars defensive end Tyson Alualu headed to Steelers

Jaguars 2010 first-round draft pick Tyson Alualu’s seven-year stay with the organization ended Tuesday when he signed a two-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Drafted 10th overall out of California, Alualu played in 110 games (87 starts) for the Jaguars, totaling 376 tackles, 17 1/2 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

In Pittsburgh’s 3-4 defense, Alualu projects as a defensive end; he played in a 4-3 defense his entire Jaguars career.

Alualu, 29, has never missed a game because of injury
. He was a healthy inactive for the first two games of 2016, snapping his streak of 96 consecutive games played that is third-longest in franchise history.

Alualu’s contract expired earlier this month and it appears the Jaguars didn’t make an effort to re-sign him.

Alualu will face his former team this year when the Jaguars visit Pittsburgh.

Alualu played defensive tackle from 2010-12 before new coach Gus Bradley moved him to strong-side defensive end. Alualu lost his starting job in 2014 to Red Bryant and 2015 to Jared Odrick.

something damning about a former teammate openly questioning a player's drive/desire/heart that will pretty much kill any chance you have of being picked up. bummer, i was thinking that he couldn't POSSIBLY be that bad.
clearly i was wrong haha
