What does Tomlin have to do with anything??? And where has Shazier proven he can cover Gronk. And it's still a LB on basically a huge WR. So waste a timeout for basically the same match-up..Shazier speed is going to matter at the goaline? It's a fade pattern. Height is more important then anything. There was nothing to change on the play..but better defense from Garvin. Nothing the coaches can do about the match-up..

I don't think its the same match-up, Shazier is an every down linebacker that is accustomed to covering TEs throughout the game, Garvin was on the field for probably a handful of plays. I don't think the intent of him being on the field for goal line defense is to have him covering a TE, any tight end, not just Gronk. I would have rather had the better player and athlete on the field. The same result is a good likelihood, but I think there's a better chance that Shazier makes a play before Garvin, IMO.

His job on the goaline defense is absolutely to cover the tight end. Garvin is also the taller of the two. If the Patriots stay in goaline and don't run motion but playaction gronk is Garvin's man

LOL, No that was not me, but I like Zack's thinking.

Gerry's response should have been: "You can't call a timeout every time you get a mismatch. But you CAN call a time out EVERY freaking time the play clock is running down because you are not organized enough to get the correct play / personnel in. It's OK to burn a timeout early in the game in non-critical situations, just not in crucial goal line scoring situations."
