Steelers players confirmed to the media on Wednesday that reserve tackle Jerald Hawkins may have been lost for the season today. Hawkins went down on a non-contact drill with an apparent ‘serious’ knee injury. Early reports indicate that the knee injury is likely an ACL tear. Recovery time is usually between 9-12 months. The news […]

Sucks for Hawkins but he got worse in his 2nd year. This may push him right off the team.

damn. hopefully that's all the injuries we have this entire season.

**knock on wood**

Losing Hawkins is terrible news, for him and the Steelers. He was the heir apparent to Hubbard. Dammit.

Injury news in non contact drills is never good

Steelers OT Jerald Hawkins suffered a torn quad in Wednesday’s team workout, per source. Backup left tackle is an Injured Reserve candidate. Was a big offseason for him.

Holy crap, Hawkins dodged a bullet. 6wks down, 12 weeks at the longest to get back. He'll be ready for the season. May be ready by game 3 of the preseason,

Very lucky if it's a torn quad. He shouldn't even be PUPed if this is the case.

I hope all our players make it through with NO injuries, including BELL EVEN THOUGH CURRENTLY HE ISN'T ONE OF OUR PLAYERS.

Media inflated the length of the injury? the recovery time?

They already have the cat IR'ed. lulz

Maybe next year but this year I think that young alphabet dude will stick.

Missing all training camp and half of preseason doesn't seat well for a guy trying to earn a roster spot

Litos, I think they already know what they have in Hawkins. He played well last year in the second half of the season during Gilbert's suspension. He took over the extra tackle roll since Hubbard was starting.

Yes, quads are not knees. Knee ligaments are season enders, if it's an internal quad tear, he'll be back. If he tore the quad at the attachment point to his knee area, that could be season ending. So I guess we'll have to see the exact type of quad tear.

But to call this a season ender before the MRI comes out, is definitely 'knee jerk' reporting....
