Two 4th and ones and Bell doesn't sniff the ball

What are Haley and Tomlin thinking?

I can deal with the other team making great plays to beat us. I have issues with stupid coaching calls that helps the other team win.
 
For once - we agree. Totally mystified at the play calls last night in pressure situations.

It's been stated - Vick did everything he was "asked" to do - but, for Coach Haley to run that QB sweep on forth down - SMDH...

I don't remember the exact play but there was a moment when the camera caught Ben looking at Haley all crazy and shaking his head
It could have been just before the Vick sweep play with OL #78 at wide receiver
 
Vick bubbled himself too deep and wide on the OT 4th & 2, and by the time he went north, it was too late. The CREASE is there, to the INSIDE of the left end. Instead, Vick fails to read it, and bubbles waaay wide and deep, and takes it OUTSIDE into the face of TWO defenders. -

I can't blame him for going back so far on that play, Gilbert got pushed back into his path and he had to drop back further to avoid tripping over him and ending the play even further behind the line.

It's still a matter of not having Bell carry the load, or hell, Williams.
 
Yes he did but the block he should of cut off was not Gilbert's it was someone's on the inside forget the number. I was sloshed Lol. But he took it too far outside the cutback was there..
 
And everyone is forgetting Will Hill made a hell of a play the play before on Bell. Stopped him short of the sticks from out of nowhere. Bell had a lot of room. Hell Hill's open field tackle was huge too on Bell.
 
DK has the gif on his website... pretty clear that if Vick followed Beachum's block upfield he would have easily picked up the yardage, but then Beachum didn't touch anyone and ran right past the 2 Ravens defenders in on the tackle. Hindsight says it was just poor execution, but I didn't like the idea of putting all the eggs in Vick's basket on that one.
 
Playcalling late in the game cost them a win. I have to run Bell on those 2 drives with 4th and 1. Relying on Vick to throw an accurate short pass to Brown when he has shown an inability to throw an accurate short pass all night was simply maddening to watch.

I can't ***** about the call too much cause I was calling for a QB run in one of those situations in the game thread. My idea was to go big and fake the run one way and boot Vick the other way. But the cutback was there on that play.

On the 4th and one I wanted to run Bell too but Brown was open and that pass has to be made. Also though in hindsight I could sort of understand its not like we were gashing them in the run game Bell was making most plays by himself. Even his long run was all him. He wasn't running through gaping holes like Forsett was thats for sure..
 
The playcall just can't be defended. They screwed it up and no one will convince me it was right to throw having Bell available
 
I said give it too Bell too. Because he was the best player we had last nite. But at the same time he was doing a whodini act to get the yards he got. It wasn't like he was getting big holes to run thru. Still I think he deserved the opportunity he was the best player on the field for us.
 
Can't put this one on Haley. I see what they were trying to do, and if any of those plays would have worked, we'd be calling him a genius.

The problem is - we should have learned from Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson in the final play of last season. You don't get cute with the game on the line. You let your best players line up and beat the guys across from him. There is no excuse whatsoever for Tomlin to allow that to happen, even if Haley tried to call it
 
Uh duh cause if Hill doesn't make a great read and tackle its a first down and the game is over. If he doesn't trip up Bell he scores. Where were you in the game thread saying what play you would had run before it happened? Of course it's stupid cause it didn't work.
 
So the play call was the problem?? Or Vick missing a wide open Brown. But I already know where your going to go. We should of ran Bell because Vick blah blah blah. But that same QB threw a perfect ball into the end zone for a TOUCHDOWN that would of made everything else moot. But you will gloss right over that. Like I said though if you aren't on the game thread saying what you would do go **** yourself and your revisionist history

Hahahahaha. Exactly what you I knew you would say..I'm not defending it I said in the game thread I would of given the ball to Bell. He was the best player on offense last nite to me.. But I also know there is no guarantee it would of worked cause he had to work a miracle for damn near every yard he got. Then again the coaches did call a play to get Bell the ball for a first down the play before and Will Hill came up and stuffed it.
 
Like the draw that comes after every penalty I knew that Haley was going to try to get cute with the play call there.. 4th & 1 just run the ball with the best RB in the NFL..

For what when I'm on record for saying I would of ran the ball with Bell?? In the game thread. He was the best player on the field and deserved the chance. If he failed I would of said oh well if he can't get it then **** it. You would of claimed to have wanted throw the ball all along and then blamed Tomlin.
