Russia Says Marine Killed During Mission to Find Downed Pilots

MOSCOW—Russia said a marine was killed when one of its helicopters was fired upon during a search and rescue mission for the pilots of a Su-24 jet fighter downed by Turkish warplane earlier Tuesday.

“With the aim of evacuating the Russian pilots from where they landed, a search and rescue mission was carried out with the use of two Mi-8 helicopters,” Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudsky said during a Defense Ministry briefing.

“In the course of the operation, one of the helicopters sustained gunfire and completed an emergency landing in neutral territory. One marine was killed,” he said.

Here is the thing. Russia has been screwing around with various countries for how long now? They have been flying near the US coast, buzzing US ships, and flirting around other countries air spaces. They just happened to do it to the wrong country this time. Its sad for the Russian pilots as they were probably just following orders, but maybe now Russia will stop playing dangerous games. It was only a matter of time before this happened.

Moscow plans to suspend military cooperation with Ankara after the downing of a Russian bomber by Turkish air forces, Russian General Staff representatives said on Tuesday. Further measures to beef up Russian air base security in Syria will also be taken.

Sergey Rudskoy, a top official with the Russian General Staff, condemned the attack on the Russian bomber in Syrian airspace by a Turkish fighter jet as “a severe violation of international law”.

Yep. Turks stood up to Vlad. No doubt they got approval from Washington before pulling the trigger. Hey Vlad, this aint the Ukraine.

About those Turks

Turkey needs ISIS to keep the Kurds from forming their own country.

If Kurdistan is established, about 1/3rd of Turkey will try to secede in order to join it. Turkey needs ISIS to prevent a civil war in Turkey

That's why this **** will never end

Russia Pounds Syrian Rebels Near Site Of Downed Russian Jet

Turkey (Reuters) - Russian forces launched a heavy bombardment against insurgent-held areas in Syria's Latakia province on Wednesday, near where a Russian warplane had been shot down by Turkey the day before, rebels and a monitoring group said.

At least 12 air strikes hit Latakia's northern countryside as pro-government forces clashed with fighters from al Qaeda's Nusra Front and Turkmen insurgents in the Jabal Akrad and Jabal Turkman areas, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

A Turkmen commander said missiles fired from Russian warships in the Mediterranean were also hitting the area, as well as heavy artillery shelling

I've been saying that for years. Do it every day for a week.

After 9/11, I had the thought of wouldn't it have been great if we would have had the ability to remotely fly twenty 767's (one for each hijackers) loaded up with fuel into various targets in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, and then come out with a straight face and condemn "whoever the hijackers" were who retaliated against their innocent civilians.

I think that would have shifted the the weight of the problem of our shoulders.

bomma aint gonna do jack.

Islamic State earns about $500 million a year from its oil revenues. But according to former CIA director Mike Morrell, US fighter aircraft have been ordered not to bomb their oil wells in case they cause “environmental damage.”

Yes. That makes sense. Clearly

Putin Accuses Obama Of Leaking Flight Details To Turkey After Russia Releases Video Of S-400 SAM Deployment In Syria

"The S-400 is an air defense system. The reason we didn't have the system in Syria is because we thought our planes were flying at high enough altitudes where a terrorist could not reach them; they don't have weapons capable of downing our planes at the altitude of over 3 or 4 thousand meters. And We could never think that we could be stabbed in the back by a country we regarded as our ally. Our planes operated at altitudes of 5-6,000 meters and were completely unprotected against potential attacks from fighter jets - we could never imagine that that could be possible otherwise we would deploy such systems in the area protecting our bombers against possible attacks."

Russian MP Vladimir Zhirinovsky Suggests Destroying Istanbul With A Nuclear Strike

"Istanbul is very easy to destroy: it takes just one nuclear bomb to throw in the Strait (Bosphorus), and it will be washed away. It would be such a terrible flood, the water column would rise to 10-15 meters, and there would be no city with nine million people," - said the leader of the Liberal Democrats.

According to Zhirinovsky, Turkey's NATO allies will not intervene, "not wanting to die in a nuclear fire."

Zhirinovsky said that at present Turkey is the number one enemy for Russia.
