That's why the suspension reads 10 weeks and not 10 games, because he is a free agent...It's written into the CBA if a player isn't on a roster and is suspended, his suspension must be handed out in weeks. It allows teams to look at a player later in the year if they are still available and not have to worry about the full length of the suspension kicking in once he's signed. So a team can sign him week 8 and only have to wait 2 weeks before they could activate him, as opposed to signing him and then having to wait 10 games.
