President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday announced his pick of adviser David Friedman to be U.S. ambassador to Israel.

"The bond between Israel and the United States runs deep, and I will ensure there is no daylight between us when I’m president,” Trump said in a statement, saying Friedman would "maintain the special relationship between our two countries.”

“He has been a long-time friend and trusted adviser to me,” Trump added of Friedman, an attorney who is also a co-chair on Trump’s Israel advisory committee.

“His strong relationships in Israel will form the foundation of his diplomatic mission and be a tremendous asset to our country as we strengthen the ties to our allies and strive for peace in the Middle East," Trump continued."Nothing is more critical than protecting the security of our citizens at home and abroad.”

Asked to comment on the unspeakable tragedy of innocent Jewish civilians being murdered by knife-wielding Islamic radicals, Obama and Kerry do little more than condemn the proverbial “cycle of violence.” I’m sorry, but this is pure and outright murder and any public figure who finds it difficult to condemn it as such without diluting the message with geo-political drivel is engaging in “blatant anti-Semitism.”

Netanyahu welcomes Trump's choice for envoy to Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday joined settlers in welcoming US President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of a hardline lawyer to be ambassador to the Jewish state.

"He knows David Friedman has the full confidence of President-Elect Trump and looks forward to working closely with him"

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely called the appointment "good news for Israel".

Friedman -- a Trump campaign adviser -- backs moving the American embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, contrary to Washington's longstanding policy of basing its ambassador in Tel Aviv.

"His positions reflect the will to strengthen the status of Israel's capital, Jerusalem, at this time and an understanding that the settlements have never been the real problem in the region," Hotovely wrote.

Some $350,000 was sent to OneVoice, ostensibly to support the group’s efforts to back Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement negotiations. But OneVoice used the money to build a voter database, train activists and hire a political consulting firm with ties to President Obama’s campaign — all of which set the stage for an anti-Netanyahu campaign, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations said in a bipartisan staff report.

In one stunning finding, the subcommittee said OneVoice even told the State Department’s top diplomat in Jerusalem of its plans in an email, but the official, Consul General Michael Ratney, claims never to have seen them.

Obama Family Will Travel To Hawaii For Holiday Vacation

Obama and his family will be taking Air Force One to Honolulu on Friday to embark on their annual Christmas vacation.
