Troy Polamalu not in steelers 2015 plans...

One of the All-Time greats but it's probably time. My fave player on D.

Sad to see him go he is everything within and outside of football a man should represent, pure class. And damn sure was fun to watch..............

All the best Troy - thank you for the excellent years of service and commitment to the Steeler organization...

As it has been stated, it is time...

There wasn't anyone in the league quite like Troy... at his peak, he was simply a freak of nature. His instincts and timing were impeccable. He made you sit up in your chair when the game was on the line and the D needed a big play. He came up huge, time and time again. I'll forever remain a true admirer of his, in particular his humble, reserved personality. One of the all time greats, it's sad to see it come to an end. Troy P, you are the man!

One of the best plays I've ever seen.

Dear Troy, PLEASE talk to Franco before you go play anywhere else!

Or Hines Ward.
Wouldn't surprise me if he goes to the Titans to play for LeBeau but that doesn't mean he can still play.
One of the all-time great Steelers but it's time to hang it up.

Thank you #43 see you in Canton.
Funny I felt the same way when Jack Lambert announced he was retiring.
Reality can be a rough mother sometimes.

Nice guy. Great player. He was an exciting player to watch even for those who weren't Steeler fans. It's time to leave the game.

I'm sorry but the Steelers with all the youth that is going to be in our secondary the Steelers need a veteran guy like Troy to coach these kids up....I don't like the idea of letting him go right now. He can still be on the team and be a mentor to young kids to reign them in for a season until they get their feet wet!

No one thinks of Franco as a seahawk any more than Emmitt is seen as a cowboy, or Jerry Rice a Seahawk.

That being said. I dont want to see him in another jersey wither.

I have been tossed up on this I know deep down Troy is done but I don't want to see him go..........with that said what you posted has me thinking. Could Troy take a page out of Ike's book and come back at a low salary do a one year farewell tour while still teaching these kids we are going to have? IDK but I would love one more year of him just because he has earned it and I want to see him go out in our colors! jmo

The Steelers employ coaches to coach young players up. The idea that Troy can do it (while also trying to play the position with his diminished physical skills) is pretty absurd. Troy is extremely quiet and keeps to himself. He skips minicamp to train by himself on the West Coast. He freelances on defense which is exactly what we don't want other defenders copying.

the end of an era... :(

yep - I wish him well in whatever he decides

if he wants to go to Tennessee with LeBeau I can understand too

I read an article this morning that Troy has been more introverted than usual due to his disdain for coach Tomlin's choice of free agents and his acceptance of "unSteelerlike" attitudes in the locker room. The fact that Tomlin allows these cancers to exist does not sit well with some of the older guys and the loss of LeBeau doesn't help.

If this is true...

What does that say for Troy's leadership itself?

And if he chooses not to mentor the new arrivals, and his play has diminished, then there is no reason to keep him...correct?

look ....I love Troy as a Pittsburgh Steeler as much as the next guy...But time waits for no man..

I am as big of a Troy fan or Keisel, Harrison, Ike fan you will find. But these players and DL have made Tomlin look good in the beginning winning a bowl and getting to another. Now it is time to see what Tomlin can do without these players and that coach. I think if the players he drafted and developed turn into stars I will eat my words and say he is a good coach. If not I think he will get tossed out on his ***. But it is time for out with the old in with the new and for Tomlin to put on his big boy pants and be held accountable for the players he drafted and developed.

Somewhere between 8-8 and 11-5 and a first round playoff or wildcard loss most years if the rest of the division isn't real good.

Me too.

Not for a long time.

Bingo. Karma sent.

"Hey Mike, your defense sucks and you can't draft for ****" said Art Rooney II never.

If this is it for Troy, he was a joy to watch and brought some of the best memories that I have watching the Steelers. His interception to seal the trip to Super Bowl 43 was outstanding and one of the coolest moments in Heinz Field history. By far one of my favorite players and I wish him the best, but also hope to see him retire a Steeler.

I wish Troy all the best in whatever he decides - I have no issue if he goes to the Titans and the Steelers still have 6M on the books for him. Not a big fan of the new nancy football, Tomlin, or Art Rooney II. The Steelers of the 2000's are gone and so is the family atmosphere when the last few vets leave. Tomlin and Art can be held responsible...

Totally agree.

I absolutely cannot read anything about Troy retiring or not being a Steeler. It physically hurts. Makes me cry. Not kidding.
