Trick or Treat? Bell Still a Steeler

Guess we will see Bell on November 13th. Not much more to say beyond that. He will be our backup behind Conner

He better pass a drug test. Other wise he will not accrue a full season and the Steelers can tag him again!

That is just it. Do we go through this drama stuff again? Can we place a different tag on him so he can shop himself around? If it wasnt for the fact that he probably sign with the Pats***** if we released him I would be all for hiding the pen when he finally does report to sign his tag sheet.

About the best I can say about this is the team is banking Salary cap room every week and there has been little to no production drop. I would have liked them to invest it at the trade deadline, but they have more room next year.

**** Bell. Put the 2 week exemption on him, and don't pay him a dime during that time. He don't like it? I don't give a ****. Then, don't dress him the rest of the way. Again, he don't like it? Too damn bad. He's been nothing but a selfish ******* this entire time. **** him.

I can’t see paying Bell $855k/week for the mere purpose of keeping him from signing with another team. I think the Steelers would sooner just release him.

I'm inclined to agree, Me'Veon may not be able to pass a mandatory drug test. That said, I also question the strategy both Bell and his agent have taken forfeiting millions of dollars in guaranteed revenue for simply showing up and playing; and the absence of exposure to prospective bidders come the free agent auction market.
Just from a business perspective, it makes no sense.
For someone who attended a fairly prestigious University like Michigan, Bell and his agent are both dumber than a box of rocks!

Don’t lump his sorry *** with my Wolverines!
He a MSU Spartan

Bell played at Michigan State...

I know that he is the player and he can always hire/fire an agent, but I have always viewed Bell as wanting to come back (I.E. all the comments he has made about returning) and his agent has put the brakes on to those statements. The Agent is an idiot. He was going to get a $70 million deal with $21 million in guarantees. If he reported this week, he would still be the highest compensated RB in the NFL for this season. For a guy who has missed 21 out of 87 possible career games and is one mistimed joint away from missing an entire NFL season, why would they expect more guaranteed money? Just me, but I think his agent is probably the biggest moron in sports at this point.

He will be chilling for 2 more weeks after he signs anyway. Then give him some special teams works. He's Conners back up now. They sure as hell are not letting him go so he can go sign with the pat***** fags . He will get another tag.

Besides I think homeboy has been hitting the bong. Only someone high would throw that much money away.

AR2 has already said he was going to transition tag him after the season.
Yes they can retag next year with a non-exclusive franchise tag.

Art also said that to put leverage on Bell to report. Bell didn't, so I think that tag is off of the table.

Forget about next year!

Bring Bell in for the stretch run, use him as the slot receiver, let Conner run the ball.....

SB!

How could you trust the guy to do the right thing now with the game on the line. He obviously doesn't care all that much.

I thought that at first, but cooler minds showed me different.

Too much money being tied to him to not get some use for him.

And when you want a SB in your life, you need to take advantage of talent.

Not that you have to start him, you can play him in Ridley's role who has done little. Jaysam still is in the growing phase.

You play Bell in relief and if he ever starts to come on you can throw him in on third downs here and there.

Although my preference is in a relief role only..Not to run Conner into the ground, so they both can be healthy at the end of the year.

After the year?yeah **** Bell send him on his way.

At this point he's lost enough games that they're really not going to pay him much. Just do whatever with him. I still think he'll be here for the last six games, I don't think he's stupid enough to miss the whole season because the team will still own his rights for next year. But ya never know, he might be that stupid.

LeVeon, LeVeon likes his moneyyyyyy.....he makes a lot they say. Spends his days counting.....by the motorwayyyyy......

BELL has "jacked" himself in the absolute worst way. Him gambling on himself the first tag was a gamble worth taking. He came out of that with a great contract offer. He refused it and decided to take another gamble on himself. GUESS wHAT????? This second gamble is costing him a ton of money and lowering his chances of a "big" contract once he hits open market. TEAMS can see his drug test failures / his YPA rushing or Reception averages but also touches / a current RB exceeding his production within the same system. The last one is the MOST telling of them all. YES I agree there are stupid teams out there but also that will be their downfall as being strapped with top heavy RB will keep them downtrodden for acquiring the rest of the puzzle to make them contenders.

I highly doubt a contending team will give him what he wants UNLESS of course he has changed his demands to more reasonable and if that were the case I truely HOPE the STEELERS pass completely (which they will).

Salute the nation

Take off your homer hater glasses

He's not gonna let himself look bad, he will want to impress his next team for maximum dollars, of course he will show up and ball out!

But using him in the slot will give him a better chance to stay healthy too, off the line and big collisions will be with DB's who he will steamroll though in the secondary as a WR, and it keeps our running game intact, and extra blue chip playmaker for Ben

Steelers better listen to me, I am never wrong

Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale on absent Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell: "There are a lot of stats [since 2015] that the Steelers are actually better without him. That might be why he’s riding a jet ski down in Miami right now."

Ouch. Talk about throwing some shade.

Ouch. Talk about throwing some shade.

Thing is, we’ve actually played so many games without him in the last five years that that’s a valid stat.

Just out of curiosity, I understand if they franchise him again they have to pay him 120% of his previous year's salary. Does that mean 120% of what he actually earned in 2018 or 120% of the previous franchise offer? If the former, could we actually franchise him for less than the $14 million they offered this season since he will have sat out more than half the season?

it is a percentage of his salary paid. i'd seen where that was stated on this board as 120%. Sporting News has it at 144%.
http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/...nsition-difference/1w7mwh36nqnfw1qb7lne9t9ka0

nerds at reddit also state 144% in third year
https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/6ny3o7/psa_the_3rd_year_franchise_tag/

those nerds posted the CBA agreement. it states:
Relevant Source: 2011 CBA - Article 10, Section 2 (b):

ARTICLE 10 - FRANCHISE AND TRANSITION PLAYERS
Section 2. Required Tender for Franchise Players:

(b) Any Club that designates a player as a Franchise Player for the third time shall, on the date the third such designation is made, be deemed to have tendered the player a one-year NFL Player Contract for the greater of:

(A) the average of the five largest Prior Year Salaries for players at the position (within the categories set forth in Section 7(a) below) with the highest such average;
(B) 120% of the average of the five largest Prior Year Salaries for players at the position (within the categories set forth in Section 7(a) below) at which the player participated in the most plays during the prior League Year; or
(C) 144% of his Prior Year Salary.

By way of example, a kicker designated as a Franchise Player for the third time in the 2014 League Year would have a Required Tender equal to the greater of:

(i) the average of the five largest 2013 Salaries for quarterbacks;
(ii) 120% of the average of the five largest 2013 Salaries for kickers; or
(iii) 144% of the player’s own 2013 Salary.

So, if we tag this ******** next year:
1) his agent will protest that Bell should get 144% of his salary, total and not what he gets in 2018 after he signs
2) the CBA states 144% of his salary. Which can be interpreted as what he actually earned in 2018.

**** Bell.

**** the midget
