Trey Johnson, one impressive looking rookie free agent!

Yeah my ignorance......you have a corner back (Johnson), and a strong safety (Allen). Allen won’t have as many PD/INT opportunities since he isn’t a boundary DB. Johnson was. Johnson also wasn’t a primary run defender. His run defense responsibilities were minuscule. Allen was a true thumper box safety, but also schematically had coverage responsibilities, but his job in Franklin’s defense was keep the ball carrier in front and tackle him. Apples and oranges genius. And you can’t tell the difference through your agenda lenses.

I also seem to recall in your catalog of prior useless threads that INTs were the measurement of a CB’s talent and PD’s were “failed INTs”. You knocked Ike Taylor for it, but he was one of the team’s best cover corner this era.

You want to argue about a UDFA who has slight chance of sticking (doubtful) on the club, and a 5th rounder who will probably on play on ST and specific defensive packages. How about starting an argument as to when you had a failed lobotomy.

Also, don’t waste my time messaging me that you trashed me epically...and then posting about it. Show everyone your attempt to be greater than the legend in your own mind.

Go back to playing with crayons. Your more productive that way.

rumor is he is a few crayons short of a full box

Oh boy. I never said pass defensed were failed interceptions and think Ike Taylor was one of the top six Steeler corner backs since the nfl-afl merger placing him in my top 50 steelers if all time. If you forget or lie...I’ll remind you once again.

I said Allen is slow and his production as a box thumper box safety role was poor vs the pass . Compare him to others on the same role. You will see. A fact.

Dude you have no clue and you if you think anyone’s role in the NFL is to keep someone in front of him and tackle vs the pass after the ball is caught, I laugh.

Maybe you played college ball and screwed up your head. You make zero sense.

Are you going to tell us what film you saw on Johnson???? I saw Allen play in games and get abused in the senior bowl when they put him in nfl type of defenses as a coverage person. Did you see that?

If a safety is slow and poor in coverage with limited ball skills, his value is very low. Allen is all of the above.

Maybe in the 1990’s lee flowers played some base defense. The game has changed and I thought Flowers who was a slow hitter type / in the box type was easy change back then and gave up too much. Allen to me is a similar type of player in a passing league. You’ll see, but first I suggest you buy a full deck of cards to play with and taking off your sunglasses while watching NFL football.

Coach.....give it a rest. You don’t even know what you are talking about 95% of the time when it’s agenda driven. Your replies pretty much showcases the diarrhea of the mouth condition you have. As for your top 50. Who gives a flip about that? Hardly anyone. (So don’t think you need to start a thread on it).

I haven’t seen any coach film (or even game film for that matter) on Johnson. I know you haven’t either....that is about the only fact there is. Watching clips of select positive plays doesn’t mean squat.

These are your words...” I said Allen is slow and his production as a box thumper box safety role was poor vs the pass . Compare him to others on the same role. You will see. A fact. “

Enlighten us....what games did you watch Coach? On how many game film did you see Allen get abused? The Senior Bowl? Where he was playing in a unfamiliar system, coaches and players?

Oh that’s right, you taped Senior Bowl practices and watched the 20 odd snaps each player may have gotten in the actual Bowl game. That out weighs 4 years of game/coach film. How was Johnson’s Senior Bowl film? Oh wait, he wasn’t there was he? So what game film are using to compare his play?

Johnson was a pure boundary cover corner. Hence all the PDs. Minimal run coverage player. Different position altogether compared to Allen.

You don’t know jack about schemes or tendencies which dictate how defenses are used. So take your penny logic and talk to your pet about it. It’s worth about the same.

What is the primary role of a box safety? Defending the run. If you watched any GAMES dork you would see Allen’s playmaking was predominantly near the line of scrimmage attacking the run or being a thumper safety on R/O. On coverage plays Franklin had Allen playing as an extra LB, so he had underneath responsibilities to tackle the receiver at the least. He played that role so well he racked up over 350+ tackles at Penn St. He wasn’t a primary coverage safety, and to compare him to others in HIS same role he was an All American during his collegiate career. He wasn’t coveted for his “ball skills” as anyone who understands defensive schemes, but highly valued as a downhill defender who made stops and caused turnovers.

I have no clue.....hah! GTFOH. Do you know whose mantra derives from keeping an offensive player in front of the defense backs and tackle? A HOF player/coach. Dick LeBeau’s coverage defense was built on “tackle the catch if you can’t stop the catch”. So you are laughing at a guy who has forgotten more football knowledge than you could ever imagine to retain. So it is true you laugh. Just like a idiot laughing boy.

Great that you took several days to reply........but I have to be honest, your BS is getting boring, ignorant and redundant.

I was in Sweden for the week on business, but that should not concern you.

I'm still laughing that you think 15 passes defenses in a college season, which plays fewer games than the NFL does isn't good.* It is moron!

I asked you point blank to compare other in the box safeties to Allen production.* What happened?* You dropped like a fly in a freezer. Allen's ball skills SUCK.* Only*one interception in 4 years plays, and few passes defended per season.* Did I mention the guy was slow for any safety?* Your so ignorant to think otherwise, but I will say its part of your charm.

You have zero clues about what you are talking about, I mostly reply back to show the board your narrow views, which in this case are wrong!

Please do not quote LeBeau, his system was excellent for years and whoever was the box safety was far more productive vs NFL competition than Allen was vs Big Ten competition.

I asked if you ever saw Johnson on film.* More crickets from you?* You're a fraud, and yes I have seen Allen play in full games.* Being a safety a position of need I watched him closely in the senior bowl practices.* He can't cover for crap TE's burned him, WR's abused him.* I did not see him cover any backs, but most will outmaneuver and outrun him *(* 4.63 forty ) .* Even more concerning if you watch the film and know what you're looking for was*Allen was stiff changing directions in coverage.

PS: I think you cant avoid my posts.* You know it, I know it, and most importantly you know that I know it.* However, I encourage you to keep replying and post your own thoughts if you are capable of doing it!
