Cameron Sutton VS William Gay VS Coty Sensabaugh VS Senquez Golson CB

For how much was said about OLBer I believe this is really the biggest weakness. With the Steelers drafting two corners and bringing one in per free agency, no other area received as much attention. I think Burns will improve year 2. I also think **** is serviceable. (that is what she said) I think the Steelers might be privately hoping Sutton shines enough that you can throw him out in those nickel and dime packages. But a more realistic start to the season might have Coty getting the early push for that inside CB spot. Against passing teams I would like to see less OLBers and ILBer dropping into coverage. Although Watt seems capable,The wildcard in all of this is Golson, two years two season ending injuries.

TJ Watt VS James Harrison OLB

I read where he can be groomed slowly behind Deebo. And fans might point to him being relatively raw at the position. For how this might be true. His production in a short body of work VS his combine results VS his noted advanced hand capability is a recipe for early play IMO. And it isn't like Deebo,is a 10+ sack guy at this point. And a few might respond with they aren't sure Watt will be that. Well he was drafted in the 1st to upgrade that area of the team. So whatever he becomes I think he is capable of starting early. Now he just has to earn it.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, VS Eli Rogers WR

You might have read Martavis has to earn his spot back, coming off a year long suspension. If he comes in looking rusty.................maybe. But barring another puff the magic dragon episode, I think that is his outside spot to lose. JuJu was drafted as insurance. Not sure we can look at it any other way. Insurance against as mentioned Bryant backsliding, and insurance against Coates' booboo finger. So where do you play him if Bryant is good to go, does he ride the bench? I don't think so. I think you see if he can beat out Rogers inside. As WRs year one tend to be play capable. I don't think the loser of this competition really should get too upset. They should see playing time regardless. 5 wide *******!

Demarcus Ayers VS Justin Hunter VS Cobi Hamilton VS Darrius Heyward-Bey WR

I am not throwing Coates into the woodpile. His STs capability and down the field capability gives him the nod IMO for a roster spot THIS year. But let's face it,9 WRs won't be making the roster. Besides this 4 headed monster competition, you wonder how many will the Steelers keep? 6 ? 7 ? This will be a fun watch down to the wire.

Greg Warren VS Colin Holba LS
Old man walking VS a 6th round balking.... The Steelers will have the final hand in determining who comes or goes. A snappy derision will come final 53.:israel:

Arthur Moats VS Anthony Chickillo VS Keion Adams OLB

Three men enter, 1 man leave. Battle of the thunder-dome ! Well a battle none-the-less. Chickillo probably gets my nod pre final 53.

Brian Allen VS William Gay VS Senquez Golson CB

Wait two made another battle VS ? This one will be for a roster spot. Not sure Allen could be tucked away on the PS for safe keeping. And if Gay and Golson lose their battles listed above, one or both could possibly find themselves exiting stage left.

Coates likely deserves to be in this group battling for the final spots......

I think Juju can really contend for the slot right from the gate, as well as give some rotation at the other WR spots

Cockrell and Burns are sure things @ outside CB, so is Sutton vs Sensabaugh vs Gay for the nickel and I think Sensabaugh gets the starting spot, which really makes Gay Vs Golson a battlecamp for the last CB spot in the team

Cockrell
Burns
Sensabaugh
Sutton
Gay or Golson
Allen is the 6th CB and a developmental project, redshirt him as a freshman but don't send him to the PS or he will be snatched

I think Watt is the perfect fit. He is a guy who I think can really contribute as the season goes along but still has a ton of ceiling. I think if healthy Harrison can still play at a high level, but I'm thinking only a half a game.

Although it may be time, I have a hard time seeing them cut DHB. The coaches love him and the team loves him. He was out there coaching the rookie WR's in Haley's absence this weekend. Unless, of course, they cut him and give him a coaching position. I just can't see keeping him just for special teams when our special teams have been pretty bad for over a decade now.

I dont know what you guys are so high on sensabaugh. The team that lost him now employ antwon blake. so,,,,

Put me in the Golson camp. He was a 2nd rounder and done in my 2 injuries.. He may come out strong in his 3rd year.... barring injury.

Sure, you want to give Golson the benefit of the doubt but the odds are hugely stacked against him. Two seasons in the NFL, two season ending injuries and absolutely zero practice or playing time since college. The only good thing is he should know the playbook by now. And, chances are he has lost a step or some quickness due to the injuries. He may or may not be able to get that back but again, chances are, he at least won't have it back to start camp. At this point, he needs to show something big in camp to have even a chance to make the team.

is not that I'm high on him, more like I'm low on the others:
- Gay showed a steep decline by the end of the year, which I hate cause I really like all the effort he has put thrugh his career and surpass his physical limitations with intelligence and preparation. But the truth is that If he lost a step he is done
- Golson is just a question mark, a big one in fact, he showed talent to be drafted at the 2nd round but we are talking of two consecutive years without playing. We don't know if he can help at all.

Now on to Sensabaugh, I don't know where you got the info that Antwon Blake plays for the previous Sensabaugh owner (Rams) as he was signed by the Giants. In fact the Rams just signed Roby Coleman and his whole 5'8" to play nickel for a 1 year contract worth $855K.

Sensabaugh was on the books for the rams for two more years counting 5M and 4,5M of cap hit as they obviously overpayed for him in 2015, expecting him to be more than a nickel CB and dissapointing outside. It just made sense to cut him and look for a cheaper replacement. The guy must have been good with the titans to have gotten such a big contract with the rams, I think in a limited role inside he can be a very valuable player

But their mistake can be our gain as his new contract is for 995K in 2017 and 1,4M in 2018 but only 220K guaranteed each year, so if the guy isn't worth it he can be cut at the end of the season and will only carry a dead cap hit of 220K for the 2018 season. So if the Steelers keep him inside he may very well be worth every penny they gave him

I think Sutton is going to be given a shot to compete against Cockrell. Golson, Gay and Sensanbaugh will compete for nickel duties.

Sensabaugh came to us from the Giants. The giants signed Blake. Ez

Golson, its easy to **** on someone for being injured 2 seasons in a row. Im just optimistic about him.

CB and WR battles are going to be awesome this year. Lots of bodies and a good mixer of talent and experience. At CB I feel Burns, Cockrell, Sensabaugh, Sutton, and either Golson or Allen make it. Could keep 6 but I doubt it. WR I feel AB, Bryant, Rogers, JuJu, Ayers, and Coates beats out DHB. Yes, keep 6 WR this year.

I'm with you Ford. There is no longer any upside to keeping DHB. We know we have a great ST player and an emergency receiver, but he hit his ceiling years ago. Time to let the younger kids fight it out. The only thing that keeps Coates on this team is ST play. He showed he had a knack for it last year, and he's still on his rookie contract, so he's cheap.

A lot is written about keeping DHB because of what he does on special teams....I don't see that being enough, he has to be at least as good as the other WRs to deserve a spot. He is a good veteran presence, but do you ever feel comfortable when you see the ball in the air going his way?

my bad, still my point stands, he was overpayed, at this price I find him as an upgrade over a declining willie gay

and I hope you are right about Golson but it will be a very uphill climb for him

something else.. Talk about moates vs chickillo for OLB spot.

You love deebo, I love deebo . (see avatar)

Maybe its time to move on. I think he can perform on a limited basis, yes. I also think you have to look at a players upside. Deebo doesn't have one. The guy is 38. I know this isn't popular. I don't even like it. But maybe its time.

I'd love to see Deebo to back to a lot of special teams...run down the field and just drill somebody....walk to the sidelines and just tak a bow.

Last guy I remember doing it was Greg Lloyd

that avatar has been already worth of my karma, pretty amazing.

We gotta keep him fresh for the playoffs, I don't care if he only sees 30% of the field during the regular season, he's worth keeping until things matter most

I hope Watt, Dupre, Deebo, and sprinkle in some Chickillo but have a rotation to keep everyone fresh.

I wanted to keep everyone fresh that's why I wanted us to draft 2 pass rushers in the draft. Wanted Lawson in rd 4. Lets see what our 7th rounder has.

I watched that Keion Adams tape vs Buffalo and he was unblockable.
