TORCHED: Steeler Fan Set Gear Ablaze Over National Anthem Protest

.....everyone handles everything differently. I presume things will settle down now.And go back to business as usual. At least for the Steelers. Which is all I really care about.

I get the point in concept, but what good does burning merchandise that you already paid for and the NFL already received their royalties on do? To me it is no different than kneeling to make a point about perceived racial inequality. The act alone does nothing. If you want to make a difference and make change happen take action and do something to make things change.

wonder if they also threw away and destroyed their beatles records when John said they were more popular than jesus christ?

jesus christ, people. get a ******* grip.

Besides I except Steeler memorabilia donations.

over-react much? Some people need to breathe and take a wait & see approach before looking like a simpleton.

Wider subject than I think you intended. This country is full of over reactions.

I gave up the Steelers for the entire time Michael Vick was on the roster. Put all my gear in drawers, took everything off my desk at work, didn't watch any of the games.

I understand the anger and if that's the way you feel, go for it.

Not sure this whole issue rises to that level with me, but as I've stated over in the political forum, my interest in the NFL is declining. Has over the past 5 years and I don't think I'm alone. From the comments around here I think 90-95% of all posters here have a lower opinion of the NFL, the owners and players than they did 5 years ago. I think 90-95% are watching less football, watching less football advertising and buying less licensed gear.

The wind of the country is blowing that direction and it's only going to get worse once the spoiled billionaires (the owners) start fighting with the spoiled millionaires (the players) in 2020 prior to the next labor agreement that appears (in all likelihood) to be headed towards a work stoppage.

This divisive issues is not going to help the NFL's image or popularity at all when they have to try and white wash their greed in 2020.

Good for him. I've seen a lot of those type videos today. I don't blame him at all. It's his stuff. I'd just go give mine to the salvation army or goodwill if it comes to that...which is just one more stupid stunt away from the crap I saw Sunday. It's just not fun at all.

but, you can't really make a video to put on youtube of that to show your outrage and utter disgust. . . this makes a statement!
Yeah, especially the people burning terrible towels.. you know, something that provides money to people in need.

Sent from my SM-G930V using Steeler Nation mobile app

Instead of burning. Just donate it.
There's still plenty of people who could use the shirts, etc.

I get the disgust. But think clearly rather than on impulse.

People have a right to do with their own stuff what they want. I personally think it's an overreaction, and it's not what I would do, but I can't stand telling other people what to do with their own money and possessions. That's also why I'm not a boycott type of guy. With that said, I think there is a portion of folks doing it only because they think they'll somehow get 15 seconds of fame, which is kinda pathetic.

It's not even a good point in concept because this guy misunderstood the whole situation with Villanueva and the U.S. military pays for the "patriotism" the NFL puts on display. It's a good recruitment tool.

I have a novel idea no one is talking about. Get rid of the anthem at sporting events altogether. The NFL, MLB, NBA whatever, are entertainment events, that's all. I don't go to a movie and expect the anthem to be played before it starts, I don't go to a Coldplay concert and wait for the anthem to start, why is that?

I'll tell you why, because the pentagon doesn't pay millions to have it done at those events, get rid of it. Play it at more appropriate events. Problem solved.
