Top 5 defensive concerns

To start out with the captain obvious statement, this defense is still reeling from the loss of Shazier.


1 ) Our Inside linebackers, tackling, speed, and pass coverage.

2 ) Our lack of a run stuffing Nose Tackle. The defense was gashed for rushing yardage in our last six games and the playoffs.

3 ) Covering Backs and Tight Ends. A glaring weakness in the pre-season. No linebacker or safety seems capable of doing it well this pre-season.

4 ) Mobile QB's*running for yardage and scores. We have a very slow front seven.* Only Durpee has good speed, but he's rather unaware.

5 ) Injuries. Is it me or are lots of guys out in the pre-season?

Top 5 problems on our defense?

1.) An athletic ILB.
2.) An athletic ILB.
3.) An athletic ILB.
4.) An athletic ILB.
5.) An athletic ILB.

Without that athletic presence at ILB, we are PRETTY exposed in the middle of the field (i.e. Tight Ends). Moreover, these type of ILB's are also the best answer for spying running QB's.

Hopefully Edmunds can become that 'in the box' guy, or our CB's just play out their minds and ball out.
 
Reminds me of Dallas w/o Sean Lee. W/him, pretty solid, w/o, hot garbage.
 
A secondary that gives up way more third downs especially third and long
Secondary that cannot tackle
Secondary that does not cover very well
Burns period
no pass rush
 
The Pats have gone to Super Bowls with mediocre defenses so why cant we?
 
Bostic seems able to run well side to side regarding the speed at Run D, too bad he can't cover much but at least should improve our problems against the run.

I definitely think an in the box S must be part of the base D, hope that is Edmunds by midseason. This is a passing league and there are no Shaziers growing in trees.
 
PRESEASON seems to be the biggest problem.

Not sure if the light switch has been turned on or if HELL has been released yet

3. Playing 10 yards of wideouts and missing the tackle
4. Scheme needs a big overhaul. Absolutely the same **** for too many years. When scrub 3rd string qbs pick you apart for career games. You got issues
5. Can we just do flying drop kicks to the midsection since damn near everything else gets the flag. It's not a headshot
But again it's tackling whatever that is now.
 
My Top Five:
1. Defensive Line.
2. Inside LB's.
3. Outside LB's.
4. Safeties.
5. Cornerbacks.

We need to go 4-3 and see what happens. Tuitt heyward hargrave and ???
 
I know on madden team they sure can't stop jerry rice. Hope they get that sorted out before the season starts

Watt's no good?

Going back to Timmons and Woodley which kicked off this current era?
Maybe Keenan Lewis in there, too.

I don't think drafting has been a problem with this current regime.
There's plenty of evidence to suggest otherwise, both sides of the ball, that show that isn't the issue.
