Don't care, I have questions.

My leagues draft is determined by the order of finish of the Belmont Stakes, you're assigned a horse by random and get the draft position based of that horse's finish.
So, I have the #1 pick, in a 12 team keeper league, meaning the top 11-12 players will be off the board before the draft even starts. I don't have any RBs worth keeping,so I must go RB with my pick - thinking Marshawn Lynch, Fournette, or Cook....

Am I crazy thinking about drafting a rookie #1? Is Beast Mode still going to be Beast Mode? I basically have to pick a RB that wasn't in the league last year, so which direction would you go?

I dont think Lynch or Cook should be even considered there. Fournette possibly because of sheer volume, but even thats not a guarantee at this point. At least a couple of the top 12 players will be there though. Some of those teams most likely have multiple top players

None of the guys you listed should even be considered. Question marks can't be wasted on the first pick.

Is it PPR? If so let's assume, Bell, Brown, OBJ, Elliott are all gone and take a look at ESPNs list ..

It would be beneficial to know which 11-12 players are gone.
That makes my/our answer that much easier.
As well as knowing the scoring format.
Typically, you'll get your oddball guy(s) that keep Gronk and/or one of the top QBs.
The rest split between RBs and WRs.
So you'd be looking at WR5ish and/or RB5ish.
The three names you mention above are not anywhere near that.

I would add a QB and WR way before a RB. Andddddd all three RBs listed have big question marks.

No way would any of them be my choice early.

Not enough info here. PPR ? Lineup requirements ? Scoring ? You say its a keeper, each team only keeps 1? Or how many do they keep ? If each team only keeps 1 player you will have much better choices than the 3 you listed

It is a PPR league, but we start 2 RBs and 3 WRs. I can usually find WRs, but there only seem to be 4-5 reliable RBs that score consistent points.

I'm thinking Fournette for the purpose of having a young RB that I can keep liked up for a few years. Whereas Marshawn would be one and done.

Line up: QB, RB,RB, WR,WR,WR, TE, K, D, ST/D

We went keeper league in a year when i had my all time shittiest team, Amari Cooper is probably the only player worth keeping. I'd have to give up my 2nd round pick to keep him, which would be the 24th overall pick...

Do RB, WR and TE all get the same PPR?

If RB gets the same ppr as WR then there are lots of draftable RBs. You should probably take 2 WRs to start of so many RBs are off the board. Why draft a 2nd tier RB if you can get 2 stud WRs?

If you can get at top WR like AB or Mike Evans, you have to take him over the 12th best RB, then wait and take best available at at 24. I assume you also have pick 25. You should come away with 2 WRs and 1 RB in your top 3

Rookie RB
Fournette - probably a lock to be the workhorse but how many receptions will he get? If RBs get a full ppr then a guy like James White could possibly score close to what Fournette does if he doesn't get receptions.

Cook - he's better than Latavius Murray but Murray is good enough that he'll steal carries. The main problem is the Vikes OL is terrible. That could be good for Cook because he's the better receiving back. I wouldn't want Cook until rd 4 because of uncertainty

McCaffrey - seems a no brainer for ppr but the problem is, will he ever get TD? Cam Newton already steals rushing TDs from Jonathan Stewart. McCaffrey may be 3rd in line in goal situations. As a WR when they are in close, it will be Olsen and the tall WRs Benjamin and Funchess who are the likely main targets. Seems McCaffrey will have to score from distance. SOmebody will probablt draft him too high.

Samaje Perine Wash - has a chance to win that starting job. Rob Kelly is just a guy. Pernie has more home run ability. I have a feeling he will start to get hyped as more rankings come out but if you draft early, he could be a late round steal.

Marlon Mack IND - Frank Gore is old and could break at any minute. Even if Gore stays healthy, Mack should get quite a bit of playing time and if Gore gets injured he could be a fantasy stud for his draft position.

Alvin Kamara NO - on paper, he's buried behind Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson, but i have a feeling Ingram might get traded. Even if he's not traded, Kamara may be able to win playing time. Ingram is pretty average. He gets his yards on volume of carries. Why would a team so devoid of defense bring in Peterson and spend a high pick on a RB if they felt good about Ingram? Kamara could do well as a receiving back s a late round pick.

Very interesting post, Tape. Thank you.

I am slated to get the 25th pick, but if you chose to designate a 'keeper', then you forfeit the pick in the round that player was drafted in last year's draft. So if I chose to keep Amari Cooper (my best player) then I lose #25.

The league is a full point per reception. One point per 10 RushYDs, and one point per 20 RecYDS.

My guess is these players will be kept by other teams:
TEAM 1) OBJ
TEAM 2) E.Elliot
TEAM 3) L. McCoy (maybe, this team's 2nd best player is Allen Robinson, so he may chose to not keep anyone and just make all his picks)
TEAM 4) L. Miller, J. Edleman, Gurley (not sure which one)
TEAM 5) AJ Green or M. Evans (also has J. Howard)
TEAM 6) Dez Bryant
TEAM 7) Matt Ryan (only gives up end 13 pick)
TEAM 8) David Johnson
TEAM 9) J. Jones
TEAM 10) AB
TEAM 11) L. Bell
MY TEAM) Cooper?

If it is a keeper league and you are looking long term I guess Fournette or Cook. Not into keeper leagues so I am not the best person to take advice from. If it is a PPR you might think of about McCaffrey since he should catch 3-5 balls a game.

I can see how people like it. I don't. I coach a ton of football in the fall. Thinking about football all week, roster , matchups. By the end of it if the Steelers are playing well I just want to enjoy that game. Might join one league, throw my money down and take Tom Brady. Last year I had Gronk first round.

There are 32 starting running backs. If you have one as your keeper, you should pick the next best player on the board. Go for value and pick Brown, Rogers, or Jones. You can always take the 18-23nd best running back in round three.

Do not draft a rookie #1.
