The Bengals are 5-0. Our chances of catching them with Ben out are slim. Even if the Bengals go 6-5 in their last 11 games, they end up 11-5....the chances of the Steelers going 11-5 or better are slim.

Therefore, the season shifts to the wild cards spots.

The Jets ( 3-1 ) and Bills ( 3-2 ) as of right now are in the playoffs.

San Diego is 2-2. If we lose, San Diego is a game ahead of us in the wild card race, with a head to head tie breaker. This means we would need to finish a game ahead of the Chargers. Example, if San Diego is 9-7 we would need to be 10-6 or better to get a wild card spot over them.

Tonight’s game us HUGE. A win, and we hold serve with Vick keeping pace with the Jets and Bills for a wild card spot.

A loss puts us at 2-3 with Browns and the Raiders, whom we play later in the season. The Steelers need to go 2-1 or better in these three games. 1-2 or worse and its over.

San Diego sucks against the run. If I were them, I would put 11 in the box and force MV to win it.
 
Agree, choking that game away last week combined with a Bungholes win means this game is key. The simply can't afford to drop to 0-3 in conference games with Ben out. Jets are 3-0 and Bills are 3-1 in the conference. Hell, even the Raiders and Browns have two conference wins.
 
The season went in the ******* when Ben went down - I'm over it.

Maybe hope for a wildcard

Yikes, I didn't notice that even the Raiders and Browns have two conference wins. This is a winnable came. No goofy play calling and solid kicking, and we can win it.
 
Yep last week's choke job makes tonight a must-win. No other way to put it
 
If San Diego stacks the box and leaves all of our receivers uncovered, I wonder whether we would adjust in the 3rd quarter or the 4th quarter.

We should come out throwing to begin with but I doubt we will. They should also roll Vick out and have him run at least a few times early on to keep them guessing.

Disagree with this.. SD has the 28th ranked run D in the league. Give em a steady dose of Bell and Williams until they show they can stop it consistently
 
If we lose tonight I'm gonna feel like I felt about the Pirates chances after the third inning of the Wildcard game. Barring a miracle we'd probably be out of it.

Sure but if they stack the box, we won't be running anywhere. Need to open them up a bit and play to win even with Vick in there. We are not playing this game to try not to lose. We must play to win.

Just because they stack the box, doesn't mean they will stop us. They are ranked 28th in run D for a reason...

We lose tonight and the race is on w Cleveland for second place..
 
I just love how fans write this team off after each loss. We win....cautious optimism..We lose, "fire the whole goddamn staff--and im not watchin this team anymore". The days leading to the following game after a loss, "I don't think we have a chance at postseason". And some folks post counts go thru the roof like a bullish Wall St stock after we lose. The **** is that all about ? They know who they are.

Theres no such thing as a (single) must-win game....you must win all games.....because all the games count in the grand scheme.
 
According to Adam Scheffter, Bryant is not activated for tonight's game.

so we see a jumbo set with Jesse James, Heath Miller and Matt Spaeth? Wonder how many targets Spaeth will get in the passing game.
