"You know, these are very divisive times for our country and for us as a football team it's about us remaining solid. We're not going to be divided by anything said by anyone. ... "[I told our players] if you feel the need to do anything I'm going to be supportive of that -- as Americans you have that right. But whatever we do we're going to do 100 percent, we're going to do together. We're not going to let divisive times or divisive individuals affect our agenda."

Basically we are here to play football not play politics. Great move Coach T !

Divisive times because of Obama and the libtards. As I've said countless times on here, Obama set race relations back decades. Trump wasn't even a candidate then and black people loved Trump back then.

You mean when the NAACP was giving him awards for his work with the black community.

Keep your politically biased crap to yourself. If Obama was in office now, you may have a point. Instead we have the most divisive president since Andrew Jackson. What do you think would happen when an immature tweeter doesn't understand the responsibility of leadership and accountability?

Oh, I get it. It's Obama's fault...

SMFH....

Not. A small minotiy might object to being part of the greatest nation on earth. Why make the others stay in the locker room?

Way to devide a team and don't you dare pull this at a home game.

I doubt Tomlin would do this at a home game. I could be wrong.

That is not what the protest is about at all.

Well ****, I must have just turned black once Trump was elected because I don't remember "loving" Trump before he was elected. Didn't hate him either. Didn't think about him much at all unless he did or said something stupid or entertaining.
Generalized statements made by some members of one race regarding how ALL members of another race felt/should feel ... smh.

Oh ******* please! It was the republican congress that refused to work with a man of color on any issue, not for the betterment of the country, but purely politics, that is what divided and still divides this country.

If he is such a racist now. Shouldn't he have been doing racist things back then. Nope he was too busy getting NAACP awards for his work in the black community. Quick question what race is the Surgeon General ? You know they must be white, cause Trump hates all blacks and is a racist . Do you not see how stupid this sounds. This nothing more than keeping sides fighting to achieve a political agenda here. Seeing that most blacks vote Dem who has the most to gain or lose by keeping this **** stirred up ?

Betterment of the country??? Hahahaha...he was not working for this nations betterment.

Better move this one to politics also.

We obviously have a ton of libtards that still don't believe they are the party that was against civil rights and that Obama is a racist race baiter.

Bullshit Obama is and was a POS and now his libtards think they are legitimate. You know the BLM thugs that targeted cops etc Please show any evidence that trump is divisive other than the lib taking points.

I don't read liberal news. I just read his tweets. You must not.

Sent from my Pixel XL using Steeler Nation mobile app

Yeah his tweets are racist, show ONE just one .

Well despite Tomlin's order, one Steelers player did make on the field for the national anthem, and that player was Alejandro Villanueva.

I bet many support him Villanueva for doing it, and by making a call for the entire team and with peer pressure the Tomlin did the opposite of bringing the team together.

Tomlin would have been better off letting those who want to stay in the locker room do so, with the majority of the team on the field.

Yep as if the team was really in unity on the decision, Al wouldn't have been there.

Good decision to react to the presidents comments instead of ******* focusing on winning a game.

"But whatever we do we're going to do 100 percent, we're going to do together."
Then he should have stayed in the locker room with the players. I'd rather see a coach who means what he says and says what he means.

Team Unity my *** - this team deserved to lose.

They pissed off the gods and were cursed with turnovers

I'm more worried about what he said in the post game presser. "We came here to play a football game". Could have fooled me.

Saluting the flag is now a protest movement

Well coach, you did not do it together. One player bravely stood outside the locker room, and your top player and QB admitted this was a distractions.

Focus on ball, not politics. And we know where you stand on politics.

I think Tomlin's decision to keep team in locker room meant no disrespect, it was to stay out of the fray. But instead it put the team right in the middle of the fray. Like many of his coaching decisions, this decision was not well thought out.
