Against the Texans down 21-17 and :046 left in the first half we get the ball with 2 timeouts and we are somewhere around our own 25 yard line.

Tomlin takes a knee. I, and several others on the Game Thread took issue with not doing a final minute drill & get a TD or FG from Boz. At the same token, in the back of my mind is if we give up a turnover there by getting too loose with the ball, we can pay dearly.. Turns out Coach T made the right call

Anthony Lynns Chargers are leading a TB12 led Tampa Bay team 24-7 with about the same time left, doesn't take a knee, & a rookie RB puts the ball on the turf & Brady gets the ball & scores a TD to totally changed the momentum of ther game...The Chargers had total control of the game....

Lynn, definitely made the wrong call...

just because the chargers ****** up their chance doesn't mean the Steelers would have

I can understand the decision to take a knee, but to say it was correct because of what another team did is quite a stretch

Got it, wasn't implying that...But if that happens and we turn the ball over, we'd have absolutely lost it

Gutless decision by Tomlin with a HOF QB at the helm. Too bad no fans in the stands for the boo birds to rain down.

Have to admin when I first saw this I thought he was kneeling for the anthem. :046 left on the clock? As in 4.6 seconds?

Lol...thought this was an anthem thread too.

I did that on purpose for CLICKBAIT....Nice catch ExUSAF

You can talk IFs n ANDs all day long. There will be a time we need to press and not be prepared to press. Hind sight is always easier, but that's why they get paid the big $$$. I would have ran at least a play or two to see where you're at then decide. **** a 15 yard slant (could just as easily happen) would make a difference as to kneel or not. The only thing he did wrong in my eyes is kneel about 1 or 2 plays to soon.

I YELLED at the MF for not going for it....But yeah, if something happened Tomlin was toast....If anything you get a chance to run the 1 minute drill....

Well first of all we were down while the chargers had total control of the game. Chargers should have definitely taken a knee. As for the Steelers it is more of a 50/50 choice. Personally given that Ben is our QB I would have at least tried some safe plays and if we got some yards get more aggressive. I also dont have issue with Tomlins choice there though.

You got to know when to hold em
Know when to fold em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run!

Cope, you know this better than anybody here...Monday morning Quarterbacking is SOOOOOO easy. Remember that Claypool play to seal the win? If that play doesn't work all of us who LOVED THE PLAY, would have been yelling WTF ???

I'm not sure. Ben hit a streaking Claypool as he was getting crushed. Really nice toss by Ben. And to put a fine point on it, he hit a deep receiver IN STRIDE! No slowing up or coming back to the ball. It's been a decade since I've seen that out of Ben.

And you are misremembering there was 24sec left in the half after that touchback at the end of the half against HOU. You need 45 yds for a FG. Coaches usually do not push the ball down field with this little time on the clock for a half. If there was actually 48sec, they could have tried.

I didn't like when they ran the ball on 2nd and 26. But it's probably easier to throw right after getting sacked in playstation than in real life. 2nd and 19 actually, I must have remembered wrong.

You've got a great memory, 26 seconds is definately not enough time to try and push that far that fast. That is when mistakes happen. I stand by my assessment of 46 seconds had there actually been 46 seconds.

Memory, pssshh. I'm a geek and have a spreadsheet to track that ****...

I also go by the Stryker clock management theorem. Seconds left > or = yardage needed. You have a shot. This was 22 sec needing 40yds. not a good push especially when you already had a TD in under 2 Min. Get out of the half and you start with possession in the 2nd half. The Steelers ended up scoring a FG on their 1st 2nd half possession to bring it to a 1pt game.

Yeah its a situation that can go either way... there isn’t a right or wrong....

Now the one thing it does prove yet again is that we do indeed live in our fears... but as far as strategy goes its either or...

But "sometimes you gotta fight..when you're a man" said also Kenny in the song about Tommy.

The Chargers had a rookie to rookie handoff that was placed right in the RBs upper chest instead of his bread basket and having the ball too high is what exposed the RB to the strip and fumble. Can't remember if the Bucs also had timeouts left to burn if they just took a knee in that situation.
