Tom Herman says he is not taking another job

I saw the interview and it came across more that he had not yet spoken to any other school...reports from last night were that LSU was close to a deal with him. He said the reports that he was negotiating with other schools were false and he was not going to discuss any other jobs but the one he still had to finish out today. So unless you have proof he has had discussions with LSU or some other school...he is not a liar.

UH has offered him a seven figure raise. I am sure Herman will not make any decision without giving multiple schools the chance to weigh in with their offer. Texas has not fired their coach yet, but will likely do that within 5 minutes of the end of today's game. Oregon, Texas Tech, Baylor and Texas A&M may all be in the Tom Herman sweepstakes.

Billionaire Tilman Fertitta, Chairman of the Board at UH, has stated that money won't be the reason Herman leaves, but if he wants the extras that come with being in a Power 5 school he may take one of the openings.

In an earlier interview, Herman was visibly moved discussing the support from Fertitta and the UH President and AD. He will not get that support at Texas or LSU, where wealthy boosters carry much more weight.

No way in HELL would I want to coach in Texas. well I guess guaranteed millions, maybe

Those boosters and AD are idiots...if you don't have the players you used to get, what you supposed to do as a coach. The market down there, for players, is slim. Too many good teams in Texas that kids want to play for. Texas is in a fight with the others schools. Tough coaching gig...but coin is an incredible motivator to up and move...

I'd like to see him take the PSU job and jam it up Ohio State's *** annually.

Texas should be one of the best jobs in the country. They have a state full of top quality recruits to choose from and plenty of money for whatever they need. The boosters though make the job way more difficult than it needs to be. A bad season, hell a bad game can get the fire the coach movement rolling. Herman is a good recruiter and would likely do well at UT.

bite your tongue there are enough schools after my coach

It would appear PSU already has a coach. Franklin appears to have broken through. With the talent coming up, Franklin ain't going anywhere.

James Franklin is doing ok. Penn State appears to be on the way up. Solid recruiting classes coming in, and the win over OSU seems to have brought it all together. We shall see.........

I made that comment because I know Herman used to coach at OSU. It was tongue in cheek more than anything.

I think, at least this season, it's hard to argue the job Franklin has done. He's taken a room full of kids who weren't feeling great about themselves at 2-2 after getting run by Michigan and turned them into one of the hottest teams in college football knocking on the playoff doorstep.

Since that game, they've been remarkably consistent in playing to their strengths, playing with confidence, play for and with each other, believing they will win every time out, and having laser-like focus on the next opponent on the schedule. This helps the boys prepare individually for each game. And they play with more grit and heart than any PSU team I can remember in many years

The job Franklin is doing right now is the anti-Tomlin. The Steelers are inconsistent, undisciplined, take their talent for granted, lack focus on individual games, play as a group of individuals rather than as a team, aggressive when they should be conservative, conservative when they should be aggressive..

If you ever wanted to see the difference between a well coached team and a badly coached team, check out Penn State since the Michigan game, and the Steelers in the same time period. You'll be astonished

Looks like LSU is hiring their interim coach.

Oregeron seems like a great guy, but to fire Les Miles and to just hire your interim position coach has to be a punch to the gut for LSU fans.

I saw a headline yesterday claiming the guy at FSU had turned down an offer from LSU, but I did not read the article.

I also read something a week or so ago about how Texas' interest in Herman cooled after Houston lost to Navy & SMU. If that's true, I wonder how they feel after they lost yesterday to Memphis.

I also saw a headline yesterday claiming Jon Gruden was in the mix at Texas.

Reports are out saying Herman is going to Texas. Sorry, Coolie, assuming the reports are accurate. My alma mater is a mid major, so I know what it's like to not be able to keep a coach.

College coaches may be as prolific in lying as politicians. One would think it would be a natural progression when the college gigs run out.

Bobby Petrino was at may alma mater for a year before Strong left Lousiville for Texas. I hoping we might have him for two years, but knew he would not be there very long.

so the schools taking our coaches keep getting better

Art Briles to Baylor
Kevin Sumlin to Texas A&M
now Tom Herman to UT.

so who will hire our next coach?? Alabama???

**** UT, they knew when they decided to not expand the big 12 that they were likely going to be coming after Herman.

dang, sorry Coolie. These last 2-3 years for Houston have been quite a ride. Hope they don't fall way back into the abyss of ****** college football teams now.

Good luck to Herman dealing with their (UT's) snobby, impossible-to-please administration and fans.

He (Herman) could go 10-2, and win bowls, for the next three seasons and the fan base there will at the least whine about him, or flat-out demand he be fired.

They're the worst.
