Terrell Suggs: 'I missed the part about not hitting QB in the side of his knee three seconds after he threw the ball... I guess I DO need to study a bit more.'

THIS could make me a little bit of a Suggs fan next year.

Brady is such a smarmy little ****.

NOTE: Suggs did NOT say any such thing.

*shrugs* what would you prefer he say?

"Oh, woe are the ravens, I truly wish we wouldn't have harmed the emotions of the people of Baltimore, may we re-do that portion of the game so as not to leave such an embarrassing footnote for their coaching staff?"

how about "yeah, we didn't quite expect it to work, but we're thankful it did." instead of being a smarmy ****?

that would have been awesomer.

How hard is it for PROFESSIONAL football players to identify the eligible receivers? For Chrissakes, you learn that in PEE WEE FOOTBALL!

Simple rule:
1) If he's off the line, then he's eligible
2) If he's the END MAN on the line, he's eligible

Not overly difficult to figure out. I find it absolutely hilarious that the NFL feels the need to announce eligibility of tackles when the formation merits. It is stupid.

I don't give a **** what either Brady or Suggs has to say.

how is that being "smarmy"?? because it's brady? if ben would have said the same thing, I'd have "0" problems with it.

pretty much everything Brady says is smarmy. dude is a pompous ***.

The spirit of the rule requires the Patriot "eligible" receiver to identify himself immediately to the referee so the ref can let the defense know right off the bat. This was not done. The *'s were "announcing" the eligible receiver over the loudspeaker in the stadium 7 or 8 seconds before the snap. That doesn't give the defense time to adjust.

Why does the offensive player have to announce himself? Because offensive players can go into motion and shift. Some only have to be set for 1 second before the snap of the ball. This makes it impossible for a defense to necessarily know who the eligible receiver may be in the event of a shifting offense.

SO you have to announce if you are an unconventional eligible receiver on a given play. That's the rule and the intent is to let the defense know that despite any weird shifts, YOU will be the eligible receiver and not just 7 or 8 seconds before the snap of the ball.

Basically, they took a weakness in the playbook and exploited it. Because they're *****.

For example there's no specific rule that says a two defensive players on a punt team can't go downfield and that ONE of the players can't shove his OWN player off the field into the opposing teams bench into say a resting Tom Brady potentially causing an injury. Let's say the "shoving player" believes he's a better tackler and wants to position himself to make an open field tackle by getting rid of the weaker tackler in the way.

Nobody ever foresaw that happening, because you don't plan for your own team to shove one another out of bounds and so there's no specific rule against it. If Tom Brady happens to be in the way of a an opposing team's player as he's shoved out of bounds at full speed... Well - prove it was intentional.

Study your rulebook Tom.

I'd love to see that prick lose his 3rd super bowl in a row,but i'd rather see neck beard go. He can own that along with his 3*** superbowl***s won by a fieldgoal each. **** him and his ugg boots. Bilicheat was a nothing **** coach at the Browns. It's amazing how brilliant you look when you know all of the plays and calls...great halftime adjustments my ***.

This is the case for ELIGIBLE receivers. What the Patriots did was use INELIGIBLE receivers. Basically, they took one OL off the field, lined up a RB split out, but ON the line, they snapped the ball, he drops back, he cannot receive the ball, he's basically a decoy.

I like Wig's cinerio!!!!!!!!! Tommy boy can go smug himself.

Salute the nation

If the steelers had done this, it would have been seen as genius. I don't see how its any different than using "trickery" in defensive blitzes or coverages...

If the *Pats simply used a novel formation that was legal and had a RB(or anyone else) ineligible by design, how was that anything except shrewd? They seemed to have kept it under wraps and utilized this plan when they had great need, down in a PO game. As much as I dislike them, I can certainly respect their decision-making and strategic decisions that conform to the league's rules.

Doesn't change the fact that they are evil, and this might have been douchy, but it worked and they are playing this weekend in direct relation to this. 28 other teams are golfing, including the Pittsburgh Steelers.

to e it isn't a matter of cheating.it wasn't . it wasn't even douchy. if it was in the rule books they can do it then it was a very smart move for them to do it. But Brady was completely douchy about it afterwords.

I think I could actually get over my hatred of the Patriots if it weren't for all the smugness on their end and the media nuthugging of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

I guess that means I won't be free until they're both retired. Tom will probably end up on TV though... smh.

Learned smug doucheplanetariness from the master.

Love how Steeler fans demean.him at every turn yet he owns us.

What a trollish thing to say.

As extremely difficult as it is to imagine, if Tomlin did something like this I'd probably be okay with it. Trophies don't bear asterisks.

Wish I could say the same, but I can't. Their assholery will live forever in my world.

Tom Brady doesn't own anybody.

Ernie Adams... That's a different story.
