No problem with his actions. That is called fire and intensity. I don't need number 7. I need to see progress in terms of a legit playoff run.
Cowher was always Mr. Calm, Cool and Stoic on the sideline. Why can't Mike be more like that?
It's the double standard that Tomlin haters can't fathom. Our previous coach was able to froth at the mouth, scream at players, and get in ref's faces was the epitome of an 'emotional coach', and was loved by all. Tomlin shows any emotion and 'something is wrong with it'. It's a severe double standard here that seems to be affected by something other than football...
I at times dislike Tomlin's time management and at times his inability to bench a player (Blake that should have been benched a long time ago) (Also playing down to ****** teams)
I do not have any problem with him showing emotion.
It is refreshing.........
So far his goods outweigh his bad.
But I do not want to see a one and done in the playoffs.
There is enough talent on this team that it shouldn't come to pass.
I don't hate Mike Tomlin. I just happen to feel that as a football coach, he leaves a lot to be desired. There is a difference, ya know.
If the Steelers, minus so many injured starters, can take the intensity of the second half of the Broncos game and turn it into some playoff success, then I will cease criticism of Tomlin....not because he hasn't made some headscratchingly inconsistent in-game decisions, but because the playoff success would justify the means.
Just like I can forgive Ben his really bad interceptions, and learned to forgive his inability to snap the damn ball with more than 2 seconds left on the play clock, I can forget Tomlin's clear sideline flaws if the end product -- being elite in the playoffs, is attained, especially in such an injury crazy year. This doesn't mean that there is not plenty of room for improvement for Tomlin and his decisions, but just that his poor-decision making was overcome by playoff success, even if if did rob the Steelers of a home playoff game.

Slash, this was something Cowher teams did too. Incessantly. We always played down to lesser teams. Remember the Colts and the Chargers in the playoffs at Three Rivers? Good lord we shoulda blown those teams out.
I lost 10 years on my life sweating those Cowher-coached teams letting the Browns or Cardinals stay in games back in the day.
Same here.
What does a head coach do?
Pick who plays. Here Tomlin's infatuation with Blake and fear of playing Boykin was an issue.
Tomlin's clock management and use of timeouts leave a lot to be desired, and sometimes he gambles when he shouldn't.
Our pass defense remains terrible, and too often the team plays down to the level of inferior competition.
Bottom line, we have good talent, but have not won a playoff game in years....
Ben masks so many mistakes. If Tomlin had to play Tomzack, Graham, or Stewart for more than one season, he'd be grilled.
Our coach of the year was the OL coach ( Munchak )

I'm not sure Coach. Stewart, Maddox, Tomzack, and Graham all are better than Landry and Vick this season.
I'm not sure this deserves a response other than - !@# you...

I don't understand why you feel this is an appropriate response. You can disagree with Coach, but I see nothing in his post worthy of telling him F you. I happen to agree with much of his takes, but even if I didn't, I wouldn't feel it appropriate to tell him to F off.
<shrugs shoulders>
I also believe having Ben, in his prime, covers a lot of warts and foibles. I do not believe Tomlin is a good X's and O's coach, as a matter of fact, I don't think he really even tries to be. If we succeed it will be from player leadership, more than anything Mike does.
4 games with Vick or Landry or several seasons with bad QB play. Huge difference.
Did you ever play or coach? Didn't think so. People often use humor to avoid debates...
