The Steelers like TJ Watt. Tomlin and Colbert took TJ out for dinner after the Wisconsin pro day. They did the same thing with Bell after his pro day.

Dinners with the head Coach and GM tend to be draft picks IF the player is on the board.

From the light reading I've done I could live with Watt. If Tomlin and Colbert took him out that is a pretty strong indication. However, I think he might be a climber come draft day. His original position was 40 but I could see 26 to 28. Maybe a trade from the second round.
 
Based on the "dinner and a draft" cinerio, I think it will Not be TJ who'syourmama but it will be TJ Watt. An edge rusher or ILB are the two biggest wholes as I see it. Safetyy strong 1c

yes you do.....Bowser was better in the combine activities, was used in multiple ways at UH and vastly improved from his junior to senior seasons.....and williams analysis stats he struggles when asked to do anything more than rush the passer....plus he reportedly failed multiple drug tests will at alabama.....sounds like just the guy you want around Bell and Bryant

OVERVIEW
Alabama's defense could have lost several starters after their national championship title run in 2015, but Williams, Jonathan Allen, and Eddie Jackson stuck around Tuscaloosa for another go. Williams was expected to climb up draft boards with a strong senior season because of his athleticism and strength, given that he would be a full-time starter for the Tide. He didn't quite meet that expectation, though, as he started only two games in 2016. Williams was a second-team Associated Press All-American and All-SEC pick, however, as he made 31 tackles, 16 for loss, and had nine sacks on the year (no solo sacks in the season's final five games). That sack number actually decreased from the year before, as he had 10.5 as a pass-rush specialist among his 12.5 tackles for loss. In his first two years on campus, Williams was a reserve defender that played in 19 games total (three tackles, one for loss in 2013; five tackles, 1.5 sacks in 2014). The Baton Rouge native reportedly failed multiple drug tests during his time with Alabama, but was never suspended. He did, however, sit for the first half of the team's game against Kentucky in 2016 after being arrested on a misdemeanor gun charge.
ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Muscle fibers are tight and twitchy. Rockets out of stance like a track sprinter, but with shoulder pads on. True edge bending ability as a rusher. Pass-rush approach is more sophisticated than he is given credit for. Can win outside or inside making every rush a potential two-way go. Shows good feel for the pass-rush arc and understands when to attack the corner. Able to dip shoulder and pivot under and around an offensive tackle and into the quarterback. Hand usage well-timed as a rusher. Primarily a rusher but showed continuing improvement in technique at the point of attack. Should post impressive straight-line speed at the combine. Plus foot quickness with the smoothness to drop into coverage and operate in space on zone blitzes.
WEAKNESSES Scouts say he struggles with Alabama scheme and needs to have things simplified. Can be taken advantage of with screen passes and misdirection. Has sinewy build that resembles a move tight end more than an NFL edge rusher. Arms and chest lack thickness and that shows up in his play strength. Is improving as edge-setter but he still needs work. Would benefit from a stronger initial punch. Athletic tackles with a well-timed punch can stymie his rush plans. Needs to do better job of getting set pre-snap. Has some hip tightness that limits his stride length upfield and laterally.

BOTTOM LINE Alabama has the type of talent and scheme on defense that can make life much easier for everyone along the front seven, but Williams has explosiveness and pass-rush talent to create his own havoc as a pass rusher regardless of what is around him. Scouts say he is lighter than his listed weight and needs to prove he can play with increased toughness in order to reach his potential. Williams' career might be as a pass-rush specialist, but he's talented enough at that endeavor to become a dangerous rush linebacker in the NFL.
 
I don't think Williams will be on our board due to all his baggage.

I would also caution everyone about the T.J. Watt love right now. The name recognition is really pushing up his stock. He is not his brother. And his film to date has been rather "okay". His brother DOMINATED college, T.J. is not. In fact, you put the tape in and it's hard to even tell who's better between T.J. and Vince Beagel. If I didn't tell you who was who, you might even guess wrong.

That's not to say T.J. won't continue to get better. He could. Maybe he's a late bloomer. And T.J. (like his brother) could be a decent TE sub in red zone packages. I compare him to Mike Vrabel and think Watt is better bulking up to about 260-265 and playing strong side OLB (where we already have Dupree). But I don't think Watt will ever be a 10+ sack guy consistently (Vrabel had two seasons with good sack number but was mostly around 5-6 over a 16 game season).

I'm telling everyone I think the guy the Steelers will covet is Takk McKinley. Something about his tough upbringing and history is going to resonate with Tomlin and he's going to fall in love. I just know it. He even plays just like Jarvis Jones but doesn't have the triangle number issues (which Tomlin will convince himself was the reason Jones failed). McKinley is an underclassman, which we often draft as well (and another difference to Jones that Tomlin will convince himself is the reason Jones failed).

I'm not a big fan of the tape, but McKinley fits at the ROLB spot as well.

Well you don't have to piss in my cereal...I like Bowser. But, Williams just needs a strong system around him and a role model like Deebo to get his career kicked off...

I, unfortunately, have to agree w/ this assessment 100%. While I have the pipe dream of Tim Williams - I believe, as well, that Takk is the pick - I just didn't want to admit it. BUT...I've watched a bunch of Takk's games over the week and whoever compared him to Tamba Hali hit the nail on the head...
 
Thing is at 30 aren't you drafting a decent amount on potential? Wasn't Dupree raw?

One thing I like about Watt is he is a hard worker, and has his head on straight. We all can agree he has a upside, just not sure just how much.

On a guy with his work ethic and bloodline and combine numbers, I think he is one of the safest picks IF available.

A OLBer a productive good player is welcomed. As we didn't have that with Jarvis.

And who to say McKinley will be there instead of Watt getting the exit off the board before 30?

I also think, Watt might be off the board, but if he isn't I would be highly surprised if he wasn't the pick.

As you have Wiilliams with the issues as mentioned. Lawson with injuries. Other teams will see these problems too.

So then then if it comes down to this or that, who do they pick? one? maybe hell both of them are gone...
 
I got the feeling the Steelers want Carl Lawson. They spent time with him at the combine and their top brass was there to see him at his pro day.
