In an unfortunate turn of events,*Pittsburgh Steelers*linebacker*TJ Watt*did not win the*NFL Defensive Player Of The Year*award. In a season where he led the league in sacks, tackles for loss, and quarterback hits, he was beat out by*Aaron Donald of the*Los Angeles Rams. Although we are saddened he didn’t win this prestigious award, we as a […]

Yeah, but the Steelers one for best end zone celebration.

Absolutely knew this would happen... the anti Steelers bias in the media has gotten absurd...
Donald is the best defensive player of this generation, but Watt has had two consecutive dpoy worthy seasons and even a basic breakdown of tge metrics put him at or above donalds contribution this year... usually when a guy gets close one year and its neck and neck with a prior winner, it slants to the guy who hasn’t won it yet...

This is because the media is biased dipshits... though it wasn’t as egregious as handing it to the Patsie last year

Even if you saw it as a tie, which I do not see how you could see it as a tie, how do you not give it to the young blood. Like does anyone really ****** believe that Lamar ****** Jackson was the best QB in the league last year when he won MVP. I'm getting done with all this bullshit.

Just goes to show you that these things are a popularity contest and has little to do with what happens on the field. Donald is a great player and had a good year but no way he had a better year than Watt. Not sure what more he needs to do?

Man...the bitter with the sweet. TJ got pretty much robbed last year. This makes me even more bitter towards the nfl.
Still thought Ben had a fight in the comeback player award they gave to Alex Smith too. Both were career threatening injuries. But Ben had a better overall season.

You knew the minute Alex Smith walked into the field and took a snap he was the Comeback Player of the Year. His injury was devastating. Walking normal was miracle enough without playing football. The right guy won that award.

Sorry but this is ******* disgusting. Watt was so far above Donald this year. It wasn't even close yet the voting was 27 -20 for Donald. Popularity contest? I'm not going to put the other criteria that has now become No. 1 in our society but it has nothing to do with playing football or being the best. I seriously don't think I can even watch the SB after this snub. Snub isn't even the word for it. Watt was easily the best defensive player. Easily.

Not surprised considering Smith almost lost his leg. I think how gruesome the injury was and how long he was out for that even if he played in the 2nd half of the last game they were still going to give it to him.

That isnt what the comeback player of the year award is for... they have the courage award for that kind of ****... the comeback player of the year is tied to performance at a high level after having a down year , be it injury, loss of a roster spot, or even just ****** play...

Alex Smith sucked out loud and did not deserve ****... I don’t care if he lost his leg... if he threw more picks then tds he shouldn’t have gotten it

I know exactly what you're talking about. Just when you think this bullshit is about over. As they bleed out their base of people who actually pack the stadiums to shell out their hard earned money, they'll understand.

Watt could have 25 sacks next year and still lose the award to Donald. The only chance Watt has to win it is for Donald to get injured and even then, if Donald played in even 1 game and had 1 sack, he'd probably still beat out Watt for the award and then the next year Donald would win DPOY again and comeback player of the year. **** the NFL and the voters and the people that pay the voters.

Let us not fool ourselves into thinking if the injuries were reversed that Ben would have received the honor. It just wasn't happening regardless.

And that's no exaggeration.

Just give Donald the award for the rest of his career now. There’s no point in even announcing it going forward. The guys a great player but this ***** a joke.

Also stop recording stats, they’re pointless. As all these apologists say “they don’t tell the whole story.” Yeah maybe not but TJ has a hell of a story too.

It will just motivate him even more for this coming year.

Donald is one of the best ever in the game. Watt clearly had the better season in every statistical category and was a major reason why the Steelers had so much success. He should’ve won it this year (and arguably last year too).

Yep. And the stats don't matter or tell the whole story argument only applies when it comes to snubbing TJ. There was no problem with Gilmore winning it last year with just raw interception stats of course.
