The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins are expected to release LB Lawrence Timmons by the start of the new league year.

The no-brainer move will create $5.4 million in cap space. Timmons went AWOL from the Dolphins in Week 2 but still ended up starting 14 games. He was a liability, generating zero sacks, forcing zero turnovers and getting walloped by the run. The ex-Steeler turns 32 in May. He will struggle for guaranteed money on the open market.
I rather get Zach Brown but with us needing to shell top dollar for Bell as well as adding a S and possibly a DT, at vet min and replacing Moats if you just blitz Timmons he can get the job done add in a young versatile LB in Evans and perhaps adding S Vaccaro you can have your problems to fill the speed and versatility that Shazier brought filled.

I think he'd instantly be our best ILB. Still think he's better than VW and more durable.

Hell no!!!! I could beat Timmons in 40, he was getting abused his last season here, now he's two years older.

Sent from my XT1585 using Steeler Nation mobile app

this is true. I seen him run. His purse slows him down but hes still faster than Timmons

ps. If youre going to quote the Miami herald, please provide link in OP. Its the nice thing to do.

If we want to reach back for former players, I'd sooner sign Jack Lambert. At 65 he's still better than Timmdong.

If he has any speed left, he will be back. VW is not very fast at all. Spence and Dirty Red are slow. Fort is probably our fastest ILB right now. Timmons would be an upgrade, even for depth, if he can run at all. He still had speed when he left. The Steelers just didn't want to pay him as a top tier starter any more.

He can't run or cover anymore, would rather take my chances with a younger athletic lb
Jarvis Jones is available.

We got all we are going to get out of him. He moved on and so did we. We need to move forward without him

He wasn't used correctly in Miami:bolt:

so you're saying there's a chance?

Why are you all enamored with a slow, washed up linebacker..we need some speed. Not a plodding oaf.

Enamored,......Haven't seen anyone here enamored as near EVERYONE is saying pass. Re-read all the post(s).

Don't want him back at all as he is to slow for our 2 DL set and we need someone who can fill that set as I'm afraid our new DC is going to be calling that set a lot.....................................

Salute the nation

Situational backup guys gotta be able to play special teams. Should be a hard pass, but if someone gets hurt midseason then you call him.

I still have the hole in my wall from when the Steelers got him the first time. I'm much milder now that I've switched to decaf but I still don't want him back.

No thanks... he's literally "that guy" who got out ran by Peyton Manning.
