Through 3 rounds can you honestly say the Steelers are a better football team?

I'm not seeing it. One of the best vertical threats in football is gone, replaced by a rookie who is highly doubtful to make remotely close to the same type of impact. With their 4 picks, 1 has been spent on defense (the reason why we fall short every damn year) and even that player was a massive reach at 1.28. Most disappointed with the QB pick. The team should be in win now mode with this roster....if Ben goes down the team is done....get players that help you win NOW. Not trying to be a downer but the Steelers have not really improved themselves at all these past couple nights in my opinion. Hope I'm proven wrong.

We needed a better safety. Maybe this guy will be better. Other than than, not better yet.

Definitely not better in 2018 as only maybe 1 player, the WR, will see decent playing time as possibly our No. 3 WR. Future years, probably but we won't have Ben so it may not matter much unless Rudolph really pans out.

Martavis certainly didn't perform at anything close to an elite deep threat in 2017. Yes, he flashed from time to time but he also made Ben pull his hair out repeatedly. We still saw many "meh" efforts to outmuscle a DB and actually make a combat catch from him. I think we'll be saying "Martavis who?" by Week 3.

Washington is JuJu part deux.

Hell yes!

They finally realized they can't pick high defensive busts anymore and got us another true starting WR!

Brilliant! **** the defense - go all out for Ben to get us another ring!

The End of the Landry ******* Jones era too!

Oh what a happy day!

hahahahahahahahaha

I don't worry about the draft at all. It's something beyond my control and all of the worry in the world won't change a single thing. The rules of engagement have changed again and it will favor offense again.
All I can say is TACKLING 101 is more important now than ever. You work on that fundamental alone and you will have greatly improved your defense. Better pass rush and secondary play would be next.

But superb tackling in the open field is priceless. Just my 2 cents

They must envision Bostic and Burnett as “base” starters, and Edmunds as playmaker in the middle to play the Shazier role. I don’t envision they sit in base defense often. The way they are picking, it seems they are not particularly concerned that we lack depth at ILB.

Hopefully there is another trick or two up
Colbert’s sleeve. Maybe picking up one of the June cuts or even a training camp cut or something. This can’t be the roster we take in to 2018

What did Bryant do last year that made him one of the best vertical threats in football? The guy averaged 12.1 yds a catch last year that doesn't even make him top 50 in the league. He was 3rd on his own team yet he's one of the best vertical threats in football????? Only time will tell what Washington can bring to the table but he averaged close to 20 yds a reception in college so he might provide a vertical threat of his own for this team.

Tomlin loves the works in progress and he once more has picked nothing but reaches, Tomlin is running out of time on offense, not addressing a defense that can get off the field is going to add up sooner or later.

I like that Washington can play as a slot or outside WR as well.

Rudolph was too much talent to pass up

The Tackle pick was a really wtf for me. They could have picked a RB to compete for the 2nd/3rd spot if what they wanted was offense

Talent wise, Bryant is definitely one of the best deep threats in the game. He had his issues with the team and all the distractions that accompanied them, but he seemed to put that aside and look a lot like the player he was in 2014 and 2015 by the end of last season.

That 50 yard TD near the end of the half in the Jaguars playoff game, against what was basically a prevent defense, tells you all you need know about the caliber of vertical threat he is.

Perhaps the rift between Bryant and the Steelers was still lingering more than it seemed to be by the end of the season and that played a role in the trade, but I would have rather kept him for one more season and used the second round pick on defense.

The change in OC alone, if he is a common sense OC can be enough to get to the super bowl. Starting games slow, getting punch in the mouth first on offense had a lot to do with the games we lost last season. The Patriots defense is not better than the Steelers D, yet they were in the Super Bowl. The safety from Green Bay is better than Mitchell. The Colts LBer will be an upgrade over what we had after Shazier went down. We have young draft picks from a season or two ago that will have one more year experience. We will be fine..

Doesn't our GM run the draft?

To be fair 6, EVERY safety in the league is better than Mitchell. He will not be employed this year.

And yet we went to the AFCC game with him one year and damn near the next year. A credit to the coaches for hiding his stinch on the defense the way they did. We are not far off from a 7th ring. Barnett, Ficthner, Bostic and our developing youth could be the difference this year.

Yes and for the future. If you were hoping for an immediate starter and make an impact when we pick at end of each round then you need to change your outlook on the drafts. Besides we are not one of the teams picking at the top for a reason and technically speaking every starter is already spoken for on the team. With the addition of Edmunds who comes in on sub packages can give us length, youth, & possible turnovers. Washington is an upgrade over Bryant in my opinion. On and off the field. Not sure if you watched him play last year but it would wasn’t what it was before the suspension. We have had a QB as talented on the team as Rudolph. He has the potential to be a back up this year and franchise QB in the future. Definitely an upgrade over Landry and Dobbs. Also, Okorafor is a project but all the tools are there for Munch to mold. He’s the only one that doesn’t make this team better next year in my opinion.

He was better earlier in his career. Last year, his zero plays, is a big reason why we didn't make the AFCC game again. Honestly, it's the worst year I've ever seen by a defensive starter on this team, by a mile. That's only because Blake wasn't technically a starter.

if it's one thing I trust about the Steelers it's their ability to draft WR's. You just need to hope that their offseason additions on d will make them a little better, since, well, that's all they really need to be. Curious to see what they'll do today.

You lost me and all credibility at one of the best verticle threats in all of football. Martavis Bryant got about as sweet a coverage situation as any "big play" guy could possibly get. He has the best receiver in all of football across from him and an all pro running back to force safeties to be aware of. He put up 600 yards 3 tds a long catch of 50 yards (his only 40 plus yard catch) and a 12 yard average. I will take a bet that Washington will eclipse all of those handily next year.
You lose all of the baggage and he was leaving after this season anyhow. Perhaps some of you could make a quick click to nfl.com before you start spewing stupid information.
If you watched Bryant last year it was pretty easy to see he and Ben were not on the same page. The hand gestures Ben would make told me Bryant just didnt know where to be against the coverage.
Oh and Edmunds cant tackle. He had five missed tackles last year.

So you SAW Bryant being anything last year? I saw very little from him last year. Bryant is afraid to get popped, and could be bullied around...This Williams kid is gonna be a tough cover he is so thick....

We got our QB after Ben is gone, or if Ben goes down (which is likely at his age, and it has been awhile since he missed significant time) Rudolph will shine...EVERYONE HATES LANDRY here and that is pretty much a fact

Great picks........We were not going to keep Bryant past this year....

Lol you Tomlin lovers can slob the knob all you want but this draft is pretty much a waste.

The first 3 rds of the draft have been highly disappointing.......a safety (which was a position of need at least) that by most accounts we took WAY too early and possibly would have been there to pick in the 2nd round.

Then a WR...... don't need.

Then a QB.......which we REALLY REALLY don't need.

Then a OT........ don't need.

I mean I guess it's a good thing we don't have a glaring hole at the MLB position because our guy shattered his back..........oh wait that's exactly the situation.

Anyone who thinks this is a winning draft for us is on danger of drowning on the Kool aid.

Oh and why do we annually waste between a 3rd and 5th pick on some marginally talented QB who will most likely never see the field?

Just gawd awful.

Think the carnell Exit was a result of this?
