Yeah, I know... playoff push, leading the division, huge division game upcoming..
still, since we have a pretty good sample of the season done now, it seems like a good spot to look at where we are at right now and what the strong points and weak points are in the roster, and where we may be focusing draft capital and cap space for free agents.
My opinion:
Biggest needs:
1. DT/DL.. Heyward is playing great, but he is long in the tooth. Benton hasnt taken that step forward yet. Ogunjobi is just a guy.. Leals injury leaves him in doubt.. Loudermilk and Adams are solid backups, not much more..
Tomlins scheme requires DTs to do a lot... and the line needs another playmaking force on it badly.
2. Wr... a second true playmaker is a high priority.. Pickens is great and CA3 is a quality role player.. even if Roman Wilson pans out with a year of seasoning, another top end guy is almost surely going to have to be brought in...
3. RB. One of the Two main guys will likely be brought back next year, and the other allowed to walk. A young back almost certainly will have to be added
4 QB. One of the two will be signed as the Starter, the question is, do you just bring in another reclamation project as a backup or use Allen as QB2 and draft a 3rd high risk/ high reward type
Positions we may use but really dont need:
1. CB. If we resign Sutton and DJ, nothing will happen here.. the Pass D isn't as bad as some think... you only carry 4 or 5 and one is usually a special teamer.. l could see another midround CB taken if one of the two UFAs leave
2. Tackle.. Assuming Moore isnt resigned, a swing tackle with upside will be needed... Spencer Anderson can do it, but they usually have a dedicated guy too
3 . IOL.. Daniels wont be resigned. Herbig wont be back at his higher pricetag either.. another guard could be drafted...
Positions we probably are fine at
1. TE. Friermuth got his contract... Washington is TE2... the third te is typically just a blocker...
2. Safety. Mincah, Elliott, Kazee, Bishop, plus Killibrew as a ST guy... as well as Watts on IR... there is no reason to address this...
3.LB. Unless we are trading one of the starters, tge olb and ilb positions are pretty solid and deep
A 4th olb might be a target, but that will be a ST ace low draft pick type
