Thoughts on Mason Rudolph?

I've read before that the steelers set up their board by doing a mock draft only with themselves. Meaning they don't guess what other teams will pick. They do a mock with their own grades. So every pick is who the steelers would take at that point. So your first 32 picks would have a 1st round grade.

So they could have had 30 guys ranked ahead of Rudolph. They had Edmunds and Washington rated higher than Rudolph

That just seems like a list of players that they want. What's the point in putting a draft grade on a player when all you are doing is listing which players you want in order? If X player is listed higher and is still on the board then you take him. What if you have a WR ranked higher than Rudolph and they are all there in the 3rd round?

I'm hoping it's a little more complicated than that. But who knows.

so you know the whole steelers route tree and all the calls and signals and you have a special TV where you can see how each route is ran by each receiver and how the defense reacts and read Ben's mind and have stats to prove that HALF the passes from Ben to the ******* baby ***** were free lance plays????

No, I have a working brain and eyes that can decipher the obvious. Ben drops back, doesn't see anyone open, hops around, AB runs a pattern, sees Ben scrambling, raises his hand and runs to an open space in the field, You have to be a real genius to figure it out. It takes years of NASA training.

that doesn't account for half of his completions to ab....jackass

MR mostly was taken because of his size - pretty much a Ben twin. The NFL is not generally creative; they just try to copy what has worked, so Pgh figure if MR is very similar to Ben physically, then maybe be can become Ben.

BUT, MR struggles to throw into tight windows and lacks anticipation. His arm strength isn't on par with Ben's, or is his accuracy nor field vision. And no way will he ever have BB's ability to keep plays alive, not even close.
He would have got killed behind the OL BB had to deal with up until 2014, killed. If the OL reverts back to pre-Munch days, MR will not be able to succeed.

Is he more Landy Jones or Aaron Rodgers? I really liked him coming out and would have been ok if we drafted him in the 1st.

Welcome to the board. This camp will answer your question. Rudolph needs to work on his arm strength. My guess is he's a solid back up type, not Ben's replacement.
