This win feels real empty, doesnt it?

Not you necessarily, but alot of fans calling into the radio are saying his option should be picked up, saying the Ravens game was basically a playoff game, etc, even if we lose to Houston.
Yeah...I'm east so I don't hear that. But that's foolish. It needs to be done, regardless of what happens in the playoffs. It will be a whole different team in all likelihood next year. Start fresh.

As I mentioned before, I truly believe, especially for those who want coach Tomlin gone, that if the Steelers go on a decent run in the playoffs this year, he could call it a day
In my opinion, that’s the only hope that Mike Tomlin will gracefully step aside after the season. I’m saying if we get two playoff wins, Mike Tomlin could very possibly move on.

I've thought about that too. It'll be a totally different team next year I you'd think. It could be the best chance.

I think he should be looking at guys like Reid, Dungy, Gruden, Coughlin or the rest of the great coaches that moved on then had fantastic revitalizations in a new environment... take a team like the Giants, who are listless right now to the playoffs and remake them into annual contenders and he goes from a HOF coach to a first ballot HOF coach...

Given who talked about it, I'm fully convinced Tomlin has a contract offer from one of the networks and I bet it's a really good offer. I don't know if he'll go to TV, but those NFL Insiders aren't tossing that info out there unless there is something going on behind the scenes.

So somebody is threatening me with a good time.

100%
But the guy wants to go out on a high note. We need one playoff win or two in the next couple weeks, and most of Steeler nation will get their wish, I believe.

Tomlin is known for his jabberwocky talk. Everyone repeats it. Sports talkers, even casual fans that i know. You hear " in the qb room" and such. These originated with Tomlin. He gets about 16M to coach. On the other hand Tom Brady was known to win games, not talk. He's kinda boring as an announcer but he gets 37.5M / year to talk.

I just don't get the vibe he's ready to step away. Maybe all the offseason moves was for one last hurrah for Tomlin, but outside of looking a bit more worn out during November, he still seems to have that fire and the TV offers will be there in the future. If he stays, I'd love for him to sit down with Nick Saban and hear him out on adapting to evolve his philosophy to compete in the modern day.

if rodgers comes back i think he will come back. Add a couple players...

If Burrow and Jackson were healthy all year, we'd likely be 3rd in the division. I get your childlike enthusiasm, but this is not a great story, it's an over the hill QB with a few flashes of life left and a wildly underachieving defense. Everything fell the Steelers way this year on the schedule and in the division in particular, and they finished the same old uninspiring 10-7.
Injuries are part of the game.
Lamar was healthy for the last game and they lost.
No excuses you win or tou lose. Ravens list 9 games many of its Lamar played in.
The record is the record. Steelers won enough games to win the division.
Pay your qb what the pay burrow and Lamar? Yeah the oline might not be as good. It is a team game. Steelers team won enough to move to the next level

Totally agree someone needs to shake some sense into Mikey

But Why Saban?

Not really known for his NFL success story and Mike really needs an offensive mind even more than a defensive guy like Saban

If Tomlin had the talent advantage Saban usually took the field with he’d have a better record. Literally a couple games a year would not be a severe mismatch when Saban took the field. Much of his success is more a product of talent difference more so than any form of schematic genius imho

Nick Saban is a college coach... his NFL experiance is from a long past era

College philosophies dont translate well to the NFL, which is why college coaches making the leap have a huge fail rate..

His NFL defensive philosophies are from belicheat.., they are way past dated...

Tomlin needs to be more progressive on D, not find more ancient mindsets to assimilate

Bingo. Saban was a defensive guy until he realized that wasn't going to win championships. Saban is an all-time great because he adjusted his philosophy. Mike Tomlin needs to learn that his way is not going to get the Steelers back into contention and adapt to the modern game just as Saban did to keep Alabama on top.

"I might not like it, but it ain't the way ball is now," Saban said of the blueprint that won the first three of his four national championships at Alabama. "It's unbelievable how much the game has changed, and it's really hard to coach defense now. But hey, it's on me -- regardless of the way I think football should be played -- if I don't change with it."

Nothing to do with his college experience or defensive mindset, but rather his willingness to change to win.

So I acknowledge that on draft day, I will probably wish we lost last week.
But this has been the best week to live near Baltimore.

Steelers win basically got a decent coach fired on our biggest rival.
The fan base is absolutely miserable.
The Steelers are in their heads.

Can't begin to tell you how awesome it has been around here this week.

3-10 in the lamar era🤣

Also Lamar is 29 now ... last year of a running QBs prime.. guys at 30 typically see their run numbers cut in a quarter... hope they sign him to an 8 year extension.. Henry too... eventually both will hit that inevitable wall and be useless

Henry is already an outlier in terms of age and production. The wheels have to come off at some point, though.

Empty? Naw…

We won and I get to watch all the Tomlin haters meltdown
We beat an 8 - 8 team that lost their star safety, gave up two long TDs, and won only because their kicker missed a gimme field goal. I don't hate Tomlin but I'm not going to change my opinion of him based on that win. Let's see what happens Monday night.

Me either. But it was a typical NFL game. They won. Life is good for 1 more week

I do think Lamar still has 3 years of prime production, Henry's clock is ticking fast though.
