Contender or pretender will be determined in Buffalo. They are a fairly balanced team with a high-powered offense and playmakers. Playing at a consistently high level. We will know how good we are (or not) by midnight Sunday. Conner and Pouncey need to be healthy or I don’t see us being in the game.

consistently high level?

they have not been overly impressive, but they will put up a fight. Hopefully having basically a normal week to get ready will help the Steelers have a better showing. The NFL has ****** the Steelers with the schedule delays.

I believe I read it's the first time a team ever had less then 5 days to prepare for a game, while playing a team with 10 days to prepare for a game. (the washington game)

I wouldn't lay our season at the feet of this week. Sure, a win would be nice but we are finishing playing 3 games in 12 days on the road. And, we have lost multiple starters in that time frame. I never root or bet against the Steelers but a win this weekend may be more than they can muster right now and it does NOT mean they are not still a SB contender.

16 games = one complete season

Salute the nation

The season doesn't get any better. From here on out they have to play every week through the playoffs until they win the SB or lose in a post-season game.

There are no breaks until they go home for the season. No point in whining about it.

Buffalo's defense is worse than KC

In years past, we’d dig ourselves a hole, by losing winnable games and leave ourselves little margin for error down the stretch. Not so this year. We have a lot of injuries. We just need to get healthy for the playoffs. The situation is very favorable:

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (11-1) (at Buffalo (9-3), Sunday night, 8:20 PM ET, NBC)

Pittsburgh clinches AFC North division title with:

PIT win + CLE loss

Pittsburgh clinches playoff berth with:

PIT win or tie OR
LV loss or tie OR
MIA loss or tie OR
TEN loss

Exactly, we need to get healthy. KC plays at Miami I think, so we're getting help one way or another there. Then KC plays at the Saints with Brees back. Nelson was a full go yesterday, Haden with a concussion could be back Sunday, if not he'll be back next week.

Welp. There it was. I learned that we are not a contender currently. I don’t even think we’re a pretender. We’ll go 1-2 to end the season if we’re lucky and will be 1 and done in the playoffs unless something drastic happens offensively. I just don’t know what that is with backs that can’t make it though a hole abs receivers that can’t catch.

At this point “Pretender” would be an improvement.

Does it really matter if the Steelers are 13-3 and get whacked on the playoffs?

Right now ANY playoff team in the AFC would beat the Steelers

Looks like my 12-4 prediction may be right after all.

Don't worry guys, I won't bump a thread from weeks/months ago to show I'm right...
