This team has to play a lot better

I wasn't able to watch the game. Did the D rest many starters?

I agree, but I have to give a little slack to them this week. It was a meaningless game and you could tell by some of the apparent lack of effort.

Body language showed that didn't care until near the end. The "D" didn't want to have the loss drop on them so they put the effort in to put it back in the hands of the "O".

Salute the nation

They keep coming out like ****. The plays called and the execution is just terrible. Tackling ain't great. Can't play like this in the playoffs.

You do realize that they have won 7 straight? This game was absolutely meaningless win or loss, you must be one of those fans that get bent out of shape after a pre season loss, because that is exactly what this game was. Health was the only important outcome.

"This team has got to play a lot better" has got to be the most repeated sentence on this board.

We keep getting stuck at 3..

1.This team has got to play a lot better if we expect to beat the __________.

2. This team has got to play a lot better if we expect to win this division.

3. This team has got to play a lot better if we expect to go deep in the playoffs.

4. This team has got to play a lot better if we expect to win the SB.

The last game they looked good to me with everybody out there. We have a home playoff game, if we're healthy I'll take my chances against anybody.

I have zero faith in Landry Jones ever making a team look good.

They won, but not look good doing it.

Pouncey/Bell/Antonio/Green/Tuitt/Hargrave/Ben

a lot of talent out a lot

am I concerned? sure

not based on the clown game.

more concerned with

1 A D that gave up late scores to the rats and Cowboys
2 Ben that hasn't played his best ball this year. Well perhaps a down year in comparisons to others.

BUT

1 Streaking in the right direction
2 D has played better during that streak (excluding a meaningless season finally)

Steelers are capable of doing greatness.....

But Ben will need to be great in the 4th quarter....

good news?

lately he has shown that he is getting back to what he was known for....

We tested all the stars on offense, and I'm sure the players weren't super fired up about this game. We'll be fine. Only won 7 straight......

All the media types said it was clear in the locker room that they really didn't have any interest in playing this game. I think they'll be fired up next week.

We got a gift win. Cleveland is both bad and unlucky. I'm okay with the offense, but the defense must play Better in the playoffs.

The team will be fire in the playoffs. I've been proven wrong about this season. When the team went on a losing streak, I was leaving these guys for dead. Especially with key players going down. During the cowboys game, the Steelers were just a facemask away from beating those chumps. But at that moment you could see a lot of guys stepping up. I'm not worried about Miami, I expect Bell and Brown to have big games. I think this is the stretch Ayers and Rogers shine as well

I'm not talking about desire or even this week. I'm saying they have come out pretty flat and very conservative for most of these games in this streak. I'm not complaining about results. But they just can't come out flat like this.

Ryan Shazier not happy with Steelers attitude before Browns game

Ryan Shazier was not happy with his teammates' collective mindset entering Sunday's regular season finale against the Browns.

That's according to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala, who stated that Shazier and several other members of Pittsburgh's defense was less than happy after Sunday's 27-24 overtime victory over the Browns.

"Ryan Shazier says he's not happy (with the) Steelers attitude headed into this game," Kinkhabwala wrote on Twitter. "Says too many guys bought idea that it was 'meaningless.'"

LB Bud Dupree says right now, doesn't feel like #Steelers on seven game win streak. Why? "Because we almost lost."

"This won't work in the playoffs," added linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who is set to make his seventh trip to the playoffs since being drafted by the Steelers in 2007.

On sides of the ball, the Steelers certainly appeared to sleepwalk though the early stages of Sunday's game, falling behind 14-0 in the first half. But led by DeAngelo Williams, Landry Jones, Eli Rogers, Cobi Hamilton, Demarcus Ayers and a revitalized Pittsburgh defense, the Steelers took a 21-14 lead in the fourth quarter, then withstood 10 unanswered points by the Browns to pull off an overtime victory.

Playing without Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell and Maurkice Pouncey, it's understandable that the Steelers were less than stellar in the early goings of Sunday's game. But it was also against a team that finished the regular season with one victory, as the Steelers are apparently not taking much enjoying in their walk-off victory.

While the Steelers aren't thrilled about Sunday's outcome, it should serve as even more motivation for Shazier and his teammates entering next weekend's rematch against the Dolphins, as Pittsburgh now looks to raise their intensity to its highest level of the season with the playoffs about to begin.

I'll give them a break because there had to be a bit of a let down going from basically a playoff game to playing a 1-14 team... that same fight and fire just isn't going to be there. The OL played its worse game of the year IMO and the defense looked like it did in the early part of the season.

It's playoff time now boys... lets get it going now!

We've trailed by double digits in each if the past 3 games, yes we won all 3, but none of those 3 teams are playoff teams either, can't keep coming out flat. The offense has to go through Ben, not Bell.

I don't buy into the meaningless game crap, there is always something to play for even in the preseason. You are getting paid a **** ton of money to give your best EVERY time you step on the field. You are a goddamn Pittsburgh Steeler that in and of itself demands you give your best, and losing any game should be unacceptable. there is a reason there are teams like the browns in this league, those teams accept that losing is OK, We are not the Browns or the Bengals We are the Steelers where winning every game is the goal, and losing is not acceptable.

I was surprised to see so many defensive starters out there to begin with, and continue playing nearly five quarters in a game that meant nothing in the standings. They will have to play better to beat Miami, but it's obviously going to be an entirely different mindset and environment, so I think they'll be ready. I know Harrison will.

We had Ben, Bell, Brown and Pouncey all out and you expected the Offense to click?

I was more concerned about the Defense that appeared to have most of the starters in.

We won a "meaningless" game AND appeared to not get anyone hurt.

Miami comes to town for the playoffs. They embarrassed us during the regular season but they are for real.

Will the Steelers show up?
