This is a big problem for me

Look at the snap counts for Bush/Barron/Williams

Am I by myself on this? Is this trying to justify a bad signing? Why are Bush/Williams counts decreasing and that total slob (yes he made 2 good plays last game) Barron’s counts going up? I don’t get it.

Assignments understanding versus Bush at this point and speed versus Bince. He has improved to a degree. If he just had better ball awareness he would be pretty decent.

But he's not. The guy has made about two good plays all season. Otherwise he's around the ball not making the play or jogging after an offensive player after making the catch.

Vince is a pretty good player and a guy who should be getting a lot more snaps than what he is.

BINCE# is the best we have against the run but a tad step behind in coverage. NEW nfl is pass first so Bince is used less. BARRON isn't the answer but is all we have in replacement.

Right, Barron isn't the answer so quit taking the better player off the field so much.

I like Williams vs the run.
Barron is supposed to be a hybrid LB/S right? I wonder how Bush would fare at that spot. I’m not a Barron fan at all.

I would be blitzing Vince through his run gap on nearly every down. If you wanted to drop someone out, let Watt or Dupree drop some. But mostly I would be sending 5 at the QB through the run.

Why are Bush’s snap counts in decline?

Barron is just better right now? Bush doesn’t know the playbook?

Let’s hear it.

Apparently Barron ( former safety) is better in coverage than the rookie linebacker bush. The excellent play of fitzpatrick has made our defensive backfield much stronger. We have Hilton and Sutton playing well, so they are much more comfortable than they have been in the past playing the dime. Our d line has been solid even in the absence of Tuit.

Probably true. You could say Bush started out well and declined. The reversed happened to Barron.

Bush in my opinion is the better playmaker. His coverage and tackling need work.

I don't think Bush has declined, more like Barron has improved his play

If Barron is better in coverage, it's not by much. If we lose one of our 3 must win games, I'd play Bush almost exclusively to get him the exposure for next year when he will be starting every game.

Cause Butler is a genius DC.

A rookie will have highs and lows. Only the coaches can answer why the snaps increase and decrease. Situation/schematic/preservation/better play/ hiccups in play.

I won't put a pin on it without knowing what the coaches attribute it to.

.

When I rewatched the Cincy game, I focused quite a bit on Barron. He was very active and around the ball quite a bit vs. the run. He also dropped to zone coverage quite a bit. Without going back to other tape, it would be hard to say but I would bet that Barron has his arms around the system now and playing it well. That isn't a knock on Bush who is still learning to play NFL football. MB has quite a few more NFL reps than Bush.

But if Bush were better than Barron then why is Bush sitting?
He was better when Barron was jogging the field, right now they might be at the same level but Barron has an advantage in experience , especially in coverage. That's just my opinion

Who said Bush play declined? What “genius” made that evaluation?

The dude is a beast, but he’s still a rookie beast. 90% of fans only notice the “big plays” but it’s the consistent ones that make the defense function at a high level

Rookies generally hit a wall as well.

It seems Barron is improving and may just be the perfect situation to have Bush watch and learn from, while Bush freshens up a bit for the home stretch of a long season in which the defense will have to do all the heavy lifting

It is a good "problem" to have, wish we had such "problems" with the depth at some offensive skill positions

That "genius" would be our own resident "coach", you might know who he is or heard about him before lol
