The main problem I have is that Tombert has shown virtually no indication that they know their *** from a hole in the ground when it comes to drafting defense.



In other words, if they spend 5 out of 7 draft picks on defensive players and 2 get cut in camp and the other 3 never amount to anything (like Jones and Worilds) I won't be the slightest bit surprised. Not. One. Bit. In fact that's what i'll be expecting.

I did notice that Colbert and Tomlin's deals are up in 2016. IMO, this is not an accident.

Tomlin will still be here in another 10 years. The Rooneys will never fire their Rooney Rule hire unless the day comes (like Cowher) where he wants more money than they want to pay. If this draft doesn't produce immediately on defense then Colbert needs to go. Even under normal NFL circumstances, by the time the D is rebuilt Ben will be retired and that window is closed (and we're back to the Steelers of the 80's).

I do not believe there are any absolutes in the game of football. So we could be looking at the end of the Tombert era or we could be looking at the beginning of the next decade of one or both of them one position can be shown to have as much basis as the other. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rooneys sold the team at this point, I am not expecting it but they might just decide to retire and live off the trust fund.

- You will get wet if you go swimming
- You need a parachute for sky diving
- Giraffes seem to have long necks
- Do not swallow razor blades
- Jarvis Jones needs to add strength this offseason
- Dri Archer seems a tad short-statured
- Mike Tomlin, African-American, who knew?

Movie ideas for the Hangover 4? Humor might be needed this season! The defense has more holes than swiss cheese.

Who said must fire? They could simply opt not to give a new contract. I think the idea of the Rooney rule is a bit insulting to qualified men. Clearly Tomlin was better than Russ Grimm. Not saying much, but he was. If Grimm was black and Tomlin was white, Tomlin still gets hired.

Art Rooney II is in charge now. I do not think he is as forgiving or patient as Dan was. The question Art must ask himself is this. If the Steelers fail to win a playoff game for five years in a row, it is coaching / player development or some other reason?

I agree. I do think that although MT was not a coach of pedigree, if you will, he was brought in to satisfy the Rooney Rule and blew them away with lots of big words and obviouslys. I will note that Grimm is still not a head coach. I doubt the Rooneys want to look like hypocrites and can him though. 11-5 last year is still 11-5.

I don't think that MT is bad coach. I don't think he's a great coach. I think he is an average coach and 8-8 to 10-6 is about his natural state. Again, in ten years he will still be here.
