Which is why after only two losses and some very crappy wins a lot of us feel this will be another lost year. Good coaching finds a way around the deficits. Now the defensive issues that are coming along are attributable to the injury. They are on linebackers 5 ,6 , 7, 8. That is a tough ask for a team that plays 3-4. but the run game. Sorry, you could see that problem emerging for weeks. Tomlin shrugged of the questions saying we don't care how we get the yards. Well its coming home to roost, which anyone who has a clue about the game of football should have been able to see.
This has always been my issue with Tomlin coached teams. Outside of Munchak they have never been able to teach and scheme their way out of problems.

I have more of a problem with end results. Good coaches win. He does that. Great coaches win SBs and or playoffs. That remains my problem with him. We will see if that stays the course very soon.

The sky is falling. We are a worn down team with our bye week situation ****** with twice this year. This team needs rest and we can't make up for all the injuries stacking up. Losing two OL in the same game and our MLB situation is not pretty. The extra day of rest better bring us some rejuvenated football because weeks 16-17 aren't going to be cake walks.

I do get the anger last night's performance was embarrassing. I want to see if they will continue to slide before stamping it. You are right though the sky isn't falling...yet.

Player attrition is part of the game, you have to prepare for that. But, losing 3 ILBs is a formidable task to scheme for. I’m more disappointed in not using Smallwood, he can’t do any worse than what’s out there now.

The ebb and flow of the season dictates changes to how teams play. Nothing is ever constant. I still don’t know what has happened to the run game after 5 weeks. Is there something wrong with Ben? His arm? Personally, I think he’s trying to avoid getting hit as he did in the past. So the game plan is directed towards getting hit less. As all the talking head OL have said, run blocking is just as much a “mentality” as it is technique. That’s been lost since week 5.

Munchak. We all loved him, and he was a great position coach for us. But HE decided to leave, Tomlin and Colbert didn’t try not to retain him. He and his wife wanted to be close to his daughter and new grandchild in Colorado. He’s said that, his wife has that. Even his daughter said she was hoping for it. Art2 definitely understood it and you bet Mr. Rooney, would have had no qualms about it. The guy chose to leave, not for the pettiness of AB or LB, that’s another opinion Munch has shot down consistently, but for family reasons, no more/ no less.

They need to adjust their identity offensively. If we're going to throw the ball 50 times a game, then use more formations, get some motion pre-snap and stop running the same routes. We need to take a few chucks down field with Claypool.

It would be nice if we could run some passing plays from under center so our run game could get a few extra yards when we need to run. Doing everything out of shotgun is to our detriment right now.

This team was 11-0 and they've had some stinkers on offense since the first half of the TN game.

I think they miscalculated not bringing in a experienced Oline coach as a replacement.

I am very happy with our 4th, 5th, and 6th ILBs last game. Allen, AW and UG3 held their own, along with Hilton making big plays. We didn't lose this game because we were down our top 3 ILBs. Not having Haden ****** us with Diggs, but other than that, the D played very well.

OL depth is murdering us now, and if we want to win another game this year, we have to fix that dumpster fire we call an offensive line...

It's certainly depressing to think of how do you draft enough quality players in order to fix this offense any time soon. It's going to take a while, Ben will be done by that time, in fact I'm worried his arm and knee are telling him it's late evening.

Take into account that we need to address Haden soon, Alualu with Sutton or Hilton (maybe both) leaving and of course depth at outside and inside lb.

Tie it all up with cap hell. Kind of sad that the picture is gloomy and two weeks ago we were 11-0. The life of the fickle fan. I'm going to Amazon and see if their selling backbone.

Claypool dropped that downfield chunk play early last night, went right through his hands, same thing vs Baltimore, big chunk play hit him right in the chest, he dropped it.

How about sitting Ebron's ***, using vance and conner and running some max protect sometimes to help the horrible Oline out some?

They did sit Vance to use McDonald on early downs last night.

And yet, they did nothing about it. Stayed pat. Figured Shaun Sarrett would do okay ..... NO. Should've gone with someone else with experience... hell, I don't know. Someone like Russ Grimm or Tunch ... not a nobody. Not when you have that talent (even though the window was starting to close). Same for Randy Fichtner .... Who? Why? Not another Chan Gailey or Norv Turner or some such OC with experience out there? Damn it all.

I want to see a big, bruising, type running back early on in the draft. One that can carry 3 or 4 defenders downfield for 4 or 5 yards. I want another Bus..

Sarrett worked under Munch for years, was hand picked as his replacement by him. Injuries plagued the run game in 2019, and the first five weeks the run game was top 1/3 in the league. I don’t think the vets forgot how to block. I think the play calling changed for whatever reason and de-emphasized the run game. Maybe Ben and Randy got enamored with quick releases and slants. Who knows. We will have to see who replaces Feiler and Big Dot (if he’s gone too). Maybe poach someone off someone else’s PS.

Very good idea...

Where'd you read Sarrett was Munchak's handpicked successor? Sarrett was hear in 2012, two years before Munch, and took over for one of their former OL coaches who was not very good. He also interviewed for the job and of course Munchak got it in 2014. He had good reviews before Munchak even arrived in Pittsburgh and given how this team likes continuity and promotes from within, it's not surprising he got the job.

If Munch didn't like the guy, he wouldn't have been here for 5 years learning under him and working with him.
