Pondering some of these:

1. If A'Shawn Robinson drops to #25 do you pick him regardless of who else is on the board?
2. If you can pick up a few decent picks (early 2nd, 3rd and maybe a 4/5th) do you trade down regardless of who's sitting there at #25?
3. Is William Jackson III a no-brainer pick at #25? i.e. if he's there you take him and don't look back.
4. Rank your top 5 OLB/Edge players for the Steelers D (not including Bosa). Mine: 1. Noah Spence, 2. Shilique Calhoun, 3. Leonard Floyd, 4. Shaq Lawson, 5. Carl Nassib.
5. Do you pick LB Jaylon Smith - regardless of how the draft is going - if he's sitting there in the 4th round? With the idea he may not help us till next year, but may be an All Pro down the line?
6. Can Su'a Cravens play SS in the NFL? If so, is he a top 5 safety to you?
7. Which - if any - of these college DE's do you think can transition to OLB: 1. Emmanuel Ogbah, 2. Carl Nassib, 3. Charles Tapper, 4. Bronson Kaufusi
8. Can Alex McCalister hold up as an OLB at 239 pounds?
9. Yes or no: will the Steelers draft a CB 6-0 or over this year?
10. Yes or no: will the Steelers keep their pick at #25?

1. I would consider him unless WJIII is still there
2. maybe...depends on who is still on the board
3. Yes, he will be the best CB the NFL has ever seen (yeah I Know this is bullshit)....
4. too lazy
5. Probably not
6. He could play, not sure he is top 5
7. doubtful on all of them
8. don't know only time will tell
9. Yes, WJIII in Round 1 - remember he is the greatest corner ever
10. Yes

1. No
2. If 2 corners are left that we like, maybe Apple and Macenzie, plus Spence I would trade down.
3. No, I don't think so.
4. Mine: What about Dodd? 1. Noah Spence, 2. Shilique Calhoun, 3. Leonard Floyd, 4. Shaq Lawson, 5. Carl Nassib.
5. No, maybe in the 6th.
6. Not a safety, an ILB for us
7. None
8. No
9. No, but if WJIII is there, maybe
10. Yes, but I would like to trade down and wish we would

Best 2 olb's to move to SS in my opinion are Lee from OSU and Jones from LSU. Lee may slip to 1-25 while Jones is probably 2nd or 3rd rd.

Pondering some of these:

1. If A'Shawn Robinson drops to #25 do you pick him regardless of who else is on the board?
No, I personally believe he's a better run stuffer than anything and is not worth a first round pick. He reminds me a lot of McCullers and I am not sure how much better if any he will be.
2. If you can pick up a few decent picks (early 2nd, 3rd and maybe a 4/5th) do you trade down regardless of who's sitting there at #25?
No. If Jalen Ramsey is sitting there or Laremy Tunsil you run to the podium. But I am kinda hoping Paxton Lynch is there at #25. I would almost be willing to take him just to trade him to the Cards, Broncos, Cowboys, or Chargers who all would be drooling if he's still there and they have no gotten a QB yet.
3. Is William Jackson III a no-brainer pick at #25? i.e. if he's there you take him and don't look back.
He is a consideration but far from a no brainer. Depends on the board. He definitely is a need and probably a decent value but what if Joey Bosa is there? Less need but more value.
4. Rank your top 5 OLB/Edge players for the Steelers D (not including Bosa). Mine: 1. Noah Spence, 2. Shilique Calhoun, 3. Leonard Floyd, 4. Shaq Lawson, 5. Carl Nassib.
Shaq Lawson, Carl Nassib, Noah Spence, Leonard Floyd (sure potential), Shilique Calhoun.
5. Do you pick LB Jaylon Smith - regardless of how the draft is going - if he's sitting there in the 4th round? With the idea he may not help us till next year, but may be an All Pro down the line?
If he is there in the 4th and if he has a 50/50 shot of coming back I take him. Hell, if he is 50/50 I probably take him in the 3rd.
6. Can Su'a Cravens play SS in the NFL? If so, is he a top 5 safety to you?
He's more of an in the box safety, not going to cover Gronk and feel good about it. I would take him in the second but feel better in the third.
7. Which - if any - of these college DE's do you think can transition to OLB: 1. Emmanuel Ogbah, 2. Carl Nassib, 3. Charles Tapper, 4. Bronson Kaufusi
I feel Nassib and Kaufusi would be nice DE's in the 34 and the rest probably only 43 DE's.
8. Can Alex McCalister hold up as an OLB at 239 pounds?
Yes. I feel he could easily add weight also but 239lbs is small but if he just has to set the edge in the running game. I am more concerned with his character and would draft him but only use one of our 7th round picks on him.
9. Yes or no: will the Steelers draft a CB 6-0 or over this year?
70/30 yes. I would say William Jackson III, Xavien Howard, or Artie Burns will be a Steelers in the first two rounds. If they don't draft one in the first two then no we will get a Cyrus Jones or Jonathan Jones later like 3rd or 4th.
10. Yes or no: will the Steelers keep their pick at #25?
Yes, but I would again love to trade down and stock pile a few mid round picks with a trade to the Cards, Broncos, Cowboys or Bolts. But I feel the Steelers missed out on CB's last year even while trying to trade up and so this year won't let that happen again.

Pondering some of these:

1. If A'Shawn Robinson drops to #25 do you pick him regardless of who else is on the board?
no...in fact, i view him more of a 34 DE (5tech). we don't need a starter there.

2. If you can pick up a few decent picks (early 2nd, 3rd and maybe a 4/5th) do you trade down regardless of who's sitting there at #25?
no..depends on who is there. i'm thinking if Jackson or Billings is there, we make the pick.

3. Is William Jackson III a no-brainer pick at #25? i.e. if he's there you take him and don't look back.
for me - no. for the Steelers - I think so. they seem to be all over him.

4. Rank your top 5 OLB/Edge players for the Steelers D (not including Bosa). Mine: 1. Noah Spence, 2. Shilique Calhoun, 3. Leonard Floyd, 4. Shaq Lawson, 5. Carl Nassib.
pure pass rushing: Spence -> Lawson -> Calhoun -> FLoyd -> Nassib

5. Do you pick LB Jaylon Smith - regardless of how the draft is going - if he's sitting there in the 4th round? With the idea he may not help us till next year, but may be an All Pro down the line?
I would take him in the 3rd if doctors gave him a good shot at recovery. the nerve issue is very dicey though.

6. Can Su'a Cravens play SS in the NFL? If so, is he a top 5 safety to you?
I absolutely think he can play SS in the NFL. He is not big like a LB. He is wiry-thick if you will. I live his athleticism and instincts around the line.

7. Which - if any - of these college DE's do you think can transition to OLB: 1. Emmanuel Ogbah, 2. Carl Nassib, 3. Charles Tapper, 4. Bronson Kaufusi
None of them can be a great 34OLB IMO. Maybe Kaufusi. Ogbah just doesn't have the agility. Need to add 15-20 lbs to Nassib and make him a DE.

8. Can Alex McCalister hold up as an OLB at 239 pounds?
Nope...neither can Leonard FLoyd.

9. Yes or no: will the Steelers draft a CB 6-0 or over this year?
Yes

10. Yes or no: will the Steelers keep their pick at #25?
Yes..although, I would love to see Lynch fall and us trade down to early part of rd 2 for someone's 2nd and 3rd.

The value in this draft is 18-50. Lots of teams #18 will be another teams #50. So if we can swap down and get 3 picks in that area then trade down all day.

The only way I don't take that trade is if we have a top 5-10 talent sitting there for us.

THIS /\ /\ /\ /\ /\

There is no question the draft's best value is in that 2nd and possibly 3rd rounds. If someone is hot after a certain player at 1-25 and we don't feel there is a gem for us at that spot, trade back for an additional 2nd.

If Eli Apple is the best CB left at that time, I say trade down; there is something about him that doesn't jive with our system. Not worth 1-25.

Shaq Lawson, Carl Nassib, Noah Spence, Leonard Floyd (sure potential), Shilique Calhoun.

pure pass rushing: Spence -> Lawson -> Calhoun -> FLoyd -> Nassib.

I dunno, the more I see on Shilique Calhoun, the more I like the kid.

BHTC has him the third ranked Edge/OLB behind Bosa and Spence.

Shilique Calhoun, EDGE, Michigan State - 6'4-3/8", 251 lbs. with long 34-1/4" arms and 9-7/8" hands. Calhoun is a long, lengthy, bendy, and explosive athlete of the type that the Steelers like. But he's also a bit older than they like (24), and he has a few real flaws in his game that will require time to iron out (functional strength being a big one). His great performance at the Combine pushed aside the question marks about his ability to play OLB in a 3-4 defense. He's settled that he can do that in addition to being a 4-3 strong-side DE, where everybody knew already that he is a perfect fit. Calhoun would have a late-1st grade if the Steelers had not spent a 1st-Round pick on Bud Dupree last year.

I can't help but think he'd look great in the black & gold, particularly with Deebo nearing the end and time running out for Jarvis Jones.

Ideally, he'd be around in the 2nd, but I doubt it.

Pondering some of these:

1. If A'Shawn Robinson drops to #25 do you pick him regardless of who else is on the board?

>>>No. But if Jackson III and Billings are gone, I'd take him.

2. If you can pick up a few decent picks (early 2nd, 3rd and maybe a 4/5th) do you trade down regardless of who's sitting there at #25?

>>>Yes. Then we would have two 2nd's, two 3rds, and a 4th. Enough to pick up quality CB, S, Edge rusher, and DL.

3. Is William Jackson III a no-brainer pick at #25? i.e. if he's there you take him and don't look back.

>>> For me yes.

4. Rank your top 5 OLB/Edge players for the Steelers D (not including Bosa). Mine: 1. Noah Spence, 2. Shilique Calhoun, 3. Leonard Floyd, 4. Shaq Lawson, 5. Carl Nassib.

>>> Nassib. He lead the nation in sacks, tackles for losses, and forced fumbles. A triple sweep and did it playing big ten competition. His motor is rare, and I liked what I saw a the senior bowl I like him as high as round one!

2. Calhoun - Jason Gildon like. Intense. Productive.

3 . Spense. Gifted, but bad character and light.

4 ) Lawson

5 ) Floyd - How many sacks did he get?

5. Do you pick LB Jaylon Smith - regardless of how the draft is going - if he's sitting there in the 4th round? With the idea he may not help us till next year, but may be an All Pro down the line?

>>> Yes. Shazier is a china doll and Timmons may only have 2-3 prime seasons left.

6. Can Su'a Cravens play SS in the NFL? If so, is he a top 5 safety to you?

>>> No. He'd be a red headed step child day one in coverage. Cravens to me is a nickel or dime / special teams type of player.

7. Which - if any - of these college DE's do you think can transition to OLB: 1. Emmanuel Ogbah, 2. Carl Nassib, 3. Charles Tapper, 4. Bronson Kaufusi

I'd have to see their workouts. We are talking 3-4 here. None could play OLB in a 4-3! The OLB spot in a 3-4 these days mostly see's action in a 4 man line. So the coverage responsibilities is a bit less.

8. Can Alex McCalister hold up as an OLB at 239 pounds?

>>> He'll add weight.

9. Yes or no: will the Steelers draft a CB 6-0 or over this year?

>>> Yes

10. Yes or no: will the Steelers keep their pick at #25?

>>>Yes. There is good depth. A trade is possible only if a team wants a player that has a weak class ( TE Hunter ) , or if a team wants a QB ( Cook ). Trading up is too costly.

1. If A'Shawn Robinson drops to #25 do you pick him regardless of who else is on the board? no, I need to see who else is setting there.

2. If you can pick up a few decent picks (early 2nd, 3rd and maybe a 4/5th) do you trade down regardless of who's sitting there at #25? I would trade down if the value of need isn't there

3. Is William Jackson III a no-brainer pick at #25? i.e. if he's there you take him and don't look back. I need to see who else is sitting there, to see if he is the best value for the Steelers

4. Rank your top 5 OLB/Edge players for the Steelers D (not including Bosa). Mine: 1. Noah Spence, 2. Shilique Calhoun, 3. Leonard Floyd, 4. Shaq Lawson, 5. Carl Nassib. Flip Lawson for Floyd

5. Do you pick LB Jaylon Smith - regardless of how the draft is going - if he's sitting there in the 4th round? With the idea he may not help us till next year, but may be an All Pro down the line? 4th? sure if he medically is still on the Steelers board

6. Can Su'a Cravens play SS in the NFL? If so, is he a top 5 safety to you? I think the potential is there, although his 40 time is concerning

7. Which - if any - of these college DE's do you think can transition to OLB: 1. Emmanuel Ogbah, 2. Carl Nassib, 3. Charles Tapper, 4. Bronson Kaufusi roll the dice

8. Can Alex McCalister hold up as an OLB at 239 pounds? not sure and I prefer the Steelers not to find out

9. Yes or no: will the Steelers draft a CB 6-0 or over this year? yes no maybe

10. Yes or no: will the Steelers keep their pick at #25? yes

I'm not in love with Robinson at 1-25. Too many red flags.

WEAKNESSES Pad level is his arch enemy. Plays too upright when asked to move. Looks to have flexibility to drop his pads, but doesn’t do it enough. Should be more consistent against double teams. Doesn’t impose his will as often as he could. Basic pass rusher without a winning, go-*to move or effective counter. Straight-*liner who cranks up initial push as bull-*rusher, but stalls out due to leverage loss. Needs to play with wider base to improve balance and base. Able to get upfield as an edge rusher, but rarely turns corner. Too content to lay on blocks when rush stalls rather than spin underneath or unleash a club move. Doesn’t play with the quickness or forward lean to threaten edges and win in the gaps.
NFL COMPARISON John Henderson
BOTTOM LINE Hard to find an interior lineman with a more well-*proportioned frame than Robinson. His size and overall talent level will have NFL teams drooling and projecting him along any and all defensive fronts, but his film might leave them hungry for more. As opposed to teammate Jarran Reed who already plays with polish, Robinson is a projection-*oriented two-*gapper who can step in right away and help plug holes in a leaky run defense. If Robinson can improve his leverage issues and pass rushing, he has all-*pro potential; however, he’s not a sure thing to become a star.

People in Detroit are really clamoring for the kid. I really doubt he gets by them in the 2nd round.

After watching a bit more tape, I am really warming up to the idea of Jackson in rd 1.
Wanted to see his intermediate coverage abilities and ability to sink his hips.
He has A LOT of pass breakups.
Dude is really fast with good COD. His size makes him even more enticing.
I'm on the train.
I also think the Steelers have him at the top of their board.

1. William Jackson CB
2. Javon Hargrave DL
3. Darian Thompson S
4. Malcolm Mitchell WR

Welcome onto the WJIII band wagon

This is what I would like to see (without trades)

1. William Jackson CB
2. Calhoun OLB
3. Darian Thompson S
4. DT/DE
