By: Logan Leslie SteelerNation.com Every year there seems to be a break out player who produces at a rate no one expected. In 2017 we had JuJu Smith-Schuster explode onto the scene then last year we saw James Conner grab the spotlight in Le’Veon Bell’s absence. So who will be this year’s breakout player? If […]

Right Idea but maybe the player has to show himself first. Washington could be the player who steps up and I surely hope he does but I'm a little on the wait and see wagon and pads are on.

I thought he was starting to come around a little late. And the preseason wasn't horrible either.

I would be semi shocked if he exploded on the scene. But it would be nice if he came onto around 50 catches. Anything more than that would be a little surprising but yeah very welcomed.

Sorry. I think moncrief becomes the secret weapon and tears it up. The speed, the height. The experience.

Damn very well could be. Probably the best speed option at this point. And the fact is that he had **** at QB for most of his career is intriguing.

As Ben is perhaps the most underrated QB in the NFL. So put him with an elite QB, we might see some good things...

Washington was solid towards the end of the season. Watch the replay of the Patriots game and check out some of the catches he made.

Secret weapon. Turn off the soap opera that's been the last 2 years. You may need about 500 mg of testosterone a week since the estrogen levels are too high and your test levels are like 125ng....just kidding kinda sorta.

Secret weapon?

Execute the common things exceptionally well and bam. Block, tackle, catch and know your enemy better than well.

Have a battle plan
Have a backup to the battleplan
Have a backup to the backup.

..dream mode off.

Washington lost a good bit of weight in the offseason as well. He will have at least 50 catches this year and either he or Moncrief will get 75+ catches.

The WR group won't disappoint this season. Bet on it.

Moncrief will be seen as a FA steal.

Washington worked in getting ready for the jump to the NFL level and is on an ascending curve at the end of last season.

Switzer is a more than decent slot receiver, willing to risk his body going through the middle and holding on to the ball after the hit.

Eli is a known commodity, the rookie DJ will be an instant help at ST which will give him a hat and a chance to see the field

Along those lines, I saw that they were working 6th rd pick Sutton Smith on offense at the OTA's.

After practice, Steelers.com's Missi Matthews reported that Smith, a pass rusher and one of the team's three sixth round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, received reps at fullback and running back.
https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=Awr...2269311//RK=2/RS=DP_M5HQNJlNUKrluy2KGXQAyRGk-

Sutton Smith's jersey number was changed from No. 51 to No. 42 prior to the start of Thursday's OTA.

Now we know why.

Word I hear is that they like this kid's motor and would like to keep him around. We shall see if he fits into the old Swiss army knife mold.....or not.

But realistically this doesn’t really matter. Because Sutton’s future with the Steelers is as an inside linebacker and special teams ace. In fact, a strong case can be made Smith is a more aggressive and athletic version of Tyler Matakevich. And he will eventually replace him on the roster – maybe this year.

The Steelers will do all they can to keep Smith on the active roster. His energy and effort is the trend of the draft for Pittsburgh. The Steelers seem committed to a full re-build of the inside linebacker depth chart and Smith appears to be a big part of this.

The secret weapon will have to be special teams though.

Field position and even key turnovers in favorable territory will be huge for this team.

Speaking of him being fat, can you imagine legit coaches allowing this? Do you think Hoodie, Jimmy Johnson, Tom Coughlin, Big Tuna, Chuck Noll, etc. would just allow a rookie 2nd round pick WR to come in overweight and not do a damn thing about it? No way. But Cool Shades is every player's buddy! Yea.

Was he actually Overweight? You could said that about Bell, Conner too I guess. There's a process, they are not machines you know

no one ever said he was fat....he slimmed down some training for this season...doesn't mean he was fat to last season

Agree with you, and it's good depth when a guy that we know can contribute is the 6th WR , in case of emergency he is right there

Moncrief will be the secret weapon imo. Finally with a QB that can get him the ball this guy has the skill set to be a huge contributor.
Although he did play for a short time with Luck, Andrew was hurt for extended period of time.
He’s my huckleberry for secret weapon and look for big season.

If he or DJ shines, And Bush and Nelson hold their own, I could see a return to the playoffs. Provided injuries don't rear their ugly head at key positions of course.
